Life & Health Financial Lines - Senior Valuation Actuary (80 - 100%)

We are seeking a talented and motivated individual to take on a newly created role in the Life & Health Valuation team – valuing the non-traditional "Financial Lines" transactions.

 

The role presents exciting development opportunities, including exposure to geographically diverse business as well as Swiss Re stakeholders throughout the value chain.

 

About the Role

 

In this role you will focus on all Swiss Re's global Life & Health Financial Lines, which consists of variable annuities; products with remote insurance risks; as well as other products with exposure to financial market risks. The inforce portfolio is written across various markets around the world and Swiss Re has significant growth ambitions for this portfolio, noting significant new transactions have been added in the last 12 months.

 

Key responsibilities include:

 

  • Quarterly valuation on IFRS-17, IFRS-9 and legal entity bases, noting this business is written in multiple jurisdictions.

  • Explanation of financial results, including input to the quarterly Business Unit Reserving Committee.

  • Maintenance of assumptions, including regular reviews of applicable assumptions with proposals presented to the Business Unit Reserving Committee.

  • Engaging with other group-wide financial reporting initiatives such as the annual Business Plan, Group ORSA, Group Risk (Solvency) Model.

  • Develop the necessary feedback cycles to prompt management attention/action for the inforce portfolio, working collaboratively with the Financial Markets and Inforce team.

  • Liaising with regional Life & Health valuation teams to support their legal entity reporting needs.

  • Supporting the operating model for Financial Lines financial reporting, especially with regard to the anticipated growth in this area of Swiss Re's business.

 

About you

To be successful, you need to have strong communication and presentation skills, as well as be able to build effective working relationships with individuals based around the world. We are looking for you if you are/bring:

 

  • Qualified actuary with relevant valuation experience relating to financial line products in the life & health insurance space.

  • Capable of handling multiple priorities - striking a balance between detail and pragmatism.

  • Strong knowledge of IFRS-17, IFRS-9 and local entity (statutory) valuation requirements for life & health Financial Lines.

  • Modelling experience of Financial Lines deals.

  • Structuring and pricing experience for life & health Financial Lines. #LI-Hybrid
