About the role
As a Senior Security Engineer in our Protection & Monitoring team, you can expect a challenging and dynamic environment where currently ongoing cyber attacks and malware define the daily work. The task of detecting "unknown" attacks constantly challenges to think creatively and to make use of monitoring data and analysis tools in new and innovative ways. Additionally, you participate in longer-term projects to reduce vulnerabilities and improve protection measures. Participation in the on-duty roster is required due to the nature of our work.


We are looking for a Senior Security Engineer (m/f) with talent, experience and strong interest in several of the following fields:

  • cyber intelligence and threat landscape monitoring
  • logfile aggregation, correlation and analysis
  • threat hunting, development and application of indicators of compromise
  • implementing and maintaining internal team tools such as malware sandboxes, indicator databases, etc
  • forensic analysis of systems and network traffic
  • malware and exploit analysis, reverse engineering
  • incident response and breach investigation


About the team
Swiss Re's Protection & Monitoring team serves as the main contact for investigations related to hacking and malware, to understand the nature and cause of the threat, and to limit any impact or damage. In this role, you will conduct malware analysis, network forensics, advanced detection methods, threat intelligence correlation, and hunting activities for indications of compromise, with the aim to protect Swiss Re's data, information systems, and networks from cyber threats.


About You
To succeed in this opportunity you need experience in one or more fields of work listed above. Further, you have:

  • a degree in a field related to computer science, or equivalent experience
  • good familiarity with Information Security concepts and associated technologies
  • an investigative mindset, curiosity, and strong analytical skills
  • hands-on experience with regular expressions and scripting languages on Unix and Windows (Bash, Python, Powershell)
  • fluency in English is required, fluency in German and any other language is an asset
  • ability to write and present incident and intelligence reports, also for a non-technical audience
  • strong personal initiative and desire to grow technically and professionally
  • work effectively both by collaborating in a team but also independently with little management oversight
  • directly applicable certifications (GREM, GCFA) and general security certifications (CISSP, CISA) are a plus



Minimum salary from 1700 EUR gross/month/full time and other rewards. Our offer to you may be higher based on your experience.*
