About The Role

This is a key senior role primarily responsible for all actuarial valuation, reporting and analysis for Swiss Re's US Group & Health business

We are looking for a fully qualified Actuary to lead the US Group & Health valuation unit with reporting under US Statutory and Swiss Re Group requirements and a transition from US GAAP to IFRS 17. You will lead the quarterly reserving and forecasting process and signing off on quarterly results and assumption updates associated with US G&H business.  The US G&H blocks cover Individual Disability, Group Long Term Disability, Group Life, Group AD&D and the Medical product lines.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Overall ownership of the US Group & Health financial reporting and actuarial deliverables. Key reviewer of the end-to-end quarterly valuation production process, with associated assumption setting as required.
  2. Lead a North America and Bangalore reporting team to provide high quality production of US GAAP transitioning to IFRS17, US Statutory, EVM and Swiss Stat actuarial valuation
  3. Support Appointed Actuary and annual Blue Book filing
  4. Provide guidance and keep up with industry best practice in health valuation for the US region
  5. Communicate quarterly results and proposed assumption or modelling changes to Senior Management
  6. Lead or provide support to cross-functional initiatives with Inforce Management and Client Markets as a subject matter expert on US health business
  7. Work closely with Pricing team to review product performance, and actively improve the actuarial feedback loop for these products
  8. Represent US Group & Health business in regional and global projects, such as IFRS17 implementation


About The Team

Reporting into the SVP Head Actuarial Management L&H US, you will be an integral member of the US Actuarial Management team which comprises over 25 actuaries.



About You:

  1. You are a qualified FSA with minimum ten years of experience, at least five years in a valuation role.
  2. You have experience as a team leader or project manager
  3. Experience with US GAAP/IFRS, US Statutory and economic valuation
  4. Previous experience working with disability, group or medical products
  5. Excellent interpersonal, communication, influencing and people management skills.  Ability and courage to constructively challenge strategic business propositions but also have business mind-set to be solutions oriented
  6. Experience with GGY-AXIS software and familiarity with experience study work via R software are positives.
