About the role

 

We are looking for a motivated business analyst with strong problem-solving skills and re/insurance experience, to assist in driving key projects and processes related to capital allocation across underwriting portfolios. The role entails scoping and leading analysis, communicating results to stakeholders, and building relationships across teams. You will work on a wide variety of projects cutting across Swiss Re business units and lines of business, including Property & Specialty, Casualty and Life & Health re/insurance.

In this role, you will:

  • Take a quantified forward-looking view on the market and perform analyses on internal and external data to make robust capital allocation decisions
  • Collaborate with colleagues within the team or in other parts of Swiss Re to perform deep-dive research either within a specific portfolio or tackling more conceptual questions 
  • Create materials for communicating key findings to senior stakeholders throughout the company
  • Support developing capabilities needed for successful portfolio leadership across the company

 

To deliver on these tasks you will need to maintain a wide (mostly internal, but also external) network, have strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills, be creative in performing quantitative analyses, identifying data sources and securing necessary information.


About the team

 

We are a highly collaborative global team of 10 members hosted in Group Portfolio Underwriting, a department mandated to steer the Swiss Re Group Underwriting Portfolio by smartly allocating capital to underwriting risk pools.


About you

 

Experience

  • Under/Graduate degree or equivalent work experience
  • Re-insurance industry know-how and specific line of business experience is a requirement
  • Quantitative and analytical background
  • Strong problem solving skills and made tangible contributions to complex projects
  • Proactive, consultative and problem-solving behavior with the ability to create and propose solutions
  • Experience in consulting role preferred
  • Expertise in modelling and advanced data analysis, as well as related software tools, is appreciated
  • Demonstrated proficiency in research, knack for identifying, sourcing and handling data

 

Interpersonal skills

  • Great 'team player' who can proactively build relationships across teams
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including strong presentation skills; ability to write professional documents in a clear, concise manner.
