About the Role
As a Data Engineering Intern, you will join a team of Architects & Engineers to work on a global strategic initiative to make better use of our Reinsurance data and enhance our ability to make data driven decisions.
You will help the team design, develop and execute complex analytic solutions that will transform the insurance industry. You will gain exposure to a project that is leveraging cutting edge technology that applies Big Data and Machine Learning to solve new and emerging problems for Swiss Re Reinsurance business.
About the Team
You will join a global team of Architects and Engineers who are passionate about technology and innovation and are interested in leveraging Big Data to solve complex business problems and gain new insights into our business. As part of this team you will have the opportunity to interact & collaborate with team members in Asia, Australia, Europe & the Americas.
About You
- Pursuing a B.S. or M.S. Degree in Computer Science/Computer Engineering
- Background in the fundamentals of computer science
- Proficient in Python and SQL. Familiarity with PySpark and Spark SQL a plus
- Experience with large data sets and distributed computing (Spark/Hive/Hadoop) a plus
- Experience with JavaScript/HTML/CSS a plus
- Experience working in a cloud environment such as AWS or Azure a plus
- Approaches problems with curiosity and open-mindedness, is a fast learner
- Ability and enthusiasm to work in a global and multicultural environment
- Strong analytical skills and can focus on details without losing track of the big picture
For Armonk, the base salary will be $20-$30 per hour, depending on location, qualifications, projected graduation year and/or highest degree held.
