About the role


Role description:

The Chief InfoTech & Data Officer (CIDO) Digital Transformation Area Lead (DTL) Life & Health is responsible for the digital transformation agenda in Swiss Re's L&H business area (Swiss Re's second largest business unit). The L&H DTL programme office is a strategic staff function which supports the DTL L&H. As such you will gain a view from the top across the portfolio of activities in the L&H business group. You work very closely with the CIDO Reinsurance Strategy & Operations Office and all DTL L&H projects.

The DTL L&H area is broad and depending on your skills and background the successful candidate will:

  • Assist the DTL to stay on top of the broad portfolio: key milestones, deliveries, dates, stakeholders, budget
  • Liaise with product areas for the management of dependencies and cross-coordination
  • Help shape presentation to senior steering bodies (in close collaboration with the reinsurance strategy office)
  • Help foster cross-functional thinking – e.g., by driving initiatives such as a "L&H reinsurance operations hand-book"

Swiss Re uses modern agile delivery methods and as part of this role you will be at the center of agile delivery and get an opportunity to learn and deepen agile delivery. We also would want that you chose one area where you can deep-dive and assist the respective delivery team as part of the project team.


About the team


CIDO L&H is a large and fully global team with internal and external colleagues. Altogether there are more than 200 people working in the programme.


The programme office is a staff function and reports directly to the Digital Transformation Lead (DTL). You will be part of this small team and be in frequent contact with the leadership of the DTL L&H.

About You


You bring a lot of curiosity and flexibility with you. Being in the core of a transformation programme of a major, global business area, you need to bring in discreteness, respect, diplomacy with you.

Your counterparts are leaders with delivery responsibility.


  • Successfully completed university degree and you now want to apply your analytical mind-set, demonstrate your good sense of figures and strong verbal and written English expression
  • Strong interest in/motivation to learn about insurance/reinsurance. You want to learn the big picture and are willing to dive into one area in more detail.
  • Approaches problems with curiosity and open-mindedness, is a fast learner
  • You show a high degree of own initiative but are also able to integrate into teams and can equally adopt and follow corporate procedures
  • You have an interest in acting with the principle of a "servant leader" – helping others to deliver successfully.
  • Team-player, willingness to contribute actively to the overall team spirit
  • Ability and enthusiasm to work in a global and multicultural environment – embracing the time zone and cultural challenges that this brings with it
  • Aptitude to express him-/herself effectively in one-on-one conversations and small groups
  • Mature & self-confident; Able to work with clients, business partners or senior colleagues
  • Capacity to readily adapt to a changing and dynamic environment
  • Proven expertise to work independently and proactively
  • Strong analytical skills and can focus on details without losing track of the bigger picture
  • Excellent oral and written English skills; additional language skills advantageous, in particular
