About The Role:

This is a client facing position in which your role as a Armonk 3 Marketing Actuary is responsible for:

 

  1. Understanding the re/insurance market and clients' needs therein.  This will involve both face to face interaction and data analysis.

 

  1. Preparing reinsurance proposals, working closely with underwriting and costing actuaries.

 

  1. Minimizing distribution risk for Swiss Re through appropriate opportunity targeting and pricing of those opportunities.

 

  1. Working closely with Client Managers to negotiate price and terms and understand competitor actions and behavior.

 

  1. Managing the quote process with a focus on assumption development and meeting client expected delivery timelines.

 

  1. Managing treaty preparation and turnaround times within client and Swiss Re requirements.

 

  1. Leveraging client knowledge to identify, investigate, and resolve issues with business that is believed to be performing other than originally expected.

 

  1. Working closely with Client Managers to build and maintain strong relationships with clients, particularly with client reinsurance decision makers and client pricing/product actuaries.

 

  1. Building and maintaining strong relationships with other departments within the company to facilitate the resolution of potential business issues.

 

  1. When available, assist with projects to improve the pricing process and understanding of the business.

 

  1. Assisting in identifying and implementing appropriate Solutions and Transaction opportunities.   

 

  1. Actively participating in and supporting the CLT.

 

In addition you will assume Client Manager responsibility for a few small US life accounts

 

Essential responsibilities:

  • work closely with account executives, and build relationships with potential clients and functional experts to ensure effective delivery of products and services
  • participate in account meetings with Client Managers
  • working with underwriting and costing actuaries to accurately cost risk of clients’ business
  • propose pricing schemes that minimize distribution risk
  • negotiating price and treaty terms
  • management of both quote and treaty turnaround times
  • understanding market and client needs, including monitoring competitor behavior
  • using client knowledge and knowledge of reinsurance to develop and implement innovative solutions to meet client needs while increasing our share of the client’s business
  • special projects assigned by the business

 About You: 

Education

Essential

  • A thorough knowledge of actuarial concepts and principles, such as that obtained by:
  • being a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries
  • having at least 5 years of related experience, or a Master's degree and at least 3 years of related experience

  • Proven mathematical skills and analytical ability. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including a demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and the ability to influence others.  Must be able to develop working relationships with other departments and clients.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to present technical concepts to a non-technical audience.
  • Must be a self-starter who is able to work independently and creatively.
  • The demonstrated ability to make decisions based on sound business judgment and a strong sense of urgency, and is able to maintain credibility and generate confidence in those decisions.
  • 3 to 7 years of experience in actuarial position.
  • Primary experience and reinsurance experience strongly preferred.

Experience in individual life products required.  Experience in individual health products preferred
