About The Role

The Standard Business team has been established to bring simplicity and efficiency to our clients, intermediaries and colleagues through innovative use of data and technology.

 

The technology that supports our Standard Business Incubator is a key differentiating asset, and this role is critical to continue the growth and development of the platform. You will work very closely with the Proposition Owners, Incubator & technology heads and user community to steer and guide the development of capabilities, to ensure that the intended growth of the portfolio can be handled in an increasingly efficient and effective manner.

You need to be prepared to present and justify your vision and ideas and build support within the user and sponsor communities.

 

You will ensure that developments are appropriately prioritised and suitably developed, supporting change management for system and process implementation as well as the expansion of the capabilities to broaden the Standard Business portfolio. Working with fast paced engineering teams, you will represent the view of the customer and ensure that our technology meets their needs.

 

Main activities

  • You will be responsible as Product Owner for one of the squads of the Underwriting platforms. You will either be squad owner of submission-intake module or "Core Underwriting" module. 
    • Guide and drive the ongoing development of Submission intake/Core Underwriting capabilities as key business representative. 
    • Responsible for defining product and service features, and prioritizing delivery in line with their business value. Able to say "no", where business value doesn't justify implementation costs.
    • Understand Customer need by maintaining a close relationship with customers and stakeholders to comprehend and communicate their needs and participate in validation of the solutions.
    • Collaborate closely with our Standard Underwriting & Poolicy Admin PO's, business architect, technology leads, process excellence and UI/UX and other systems to ensure seamless integration, data quality and improve user experience
    • Represent the customer to the delivery teams during agile sprints and provides sprint prioritization to ensure technology alignment with business priorities & strategies
    • Measure and report on the value provided by Platform Product offerings and provide regular updates to stakeholders on product priority, delivery, and adoption
    • Oversee testing, training and releases of the system
    • Support the implementation of new lines & features.
  • Change implementation
    • Support the extension of the submission-intake/"core underwriting" offering through platform capabilities for geographic expansion and additional lines of business/capabilities
    • Build a culture of system process adherence through tracking and monitoring activities and acting on the results
    • Actively communicate with all involved partners across regions

 

About You:

Essential:

  • At least 10+ years of experience in Project, Application or Process Management, a recent product ownership is a must.
  • For "Core Underwriting" Product Owner- significant experience in development/steering of underwriting/pricing/rating tools and solid understanding of the commercial insurance underwriting user journeys. 
  • For "Submission" Product Owner- Significant experience in development/steering of Submission intake from borkers. Solid understanding of the commercial insurance submission process including automation (AI/ML) applications, clearance processes and underwriting data requirements. 
  • Solid and deep understanding of agile values and practices
  • Significant experience in development/steering of Underwriting/pricing/rating tools and solid understating of the underwriting user journeys.
  • Passionate to explore new ways to solve problems, improve the business and challenge the status quo by continually seeking improvement opportunities
  • Must possess an understanding of business objectives and be able to quantify value and risks
  • Ability to translate ideas into clear and consistent priorities as well as an easy to understand story line
  • Strong customer focus with developed conflict management skills
  • Comfortable working across different regions, cultures and time zones
  • Experience with enterprise-wide and/or cross-functional change initiatives with a high degree of complexity
  • Ability to quickly assimilate to new knowledge and continuous improvement mindset, strong organizing and structuring skills with attention to detail

Desirable:

  • Agile, Lean or Six Sigma certification
  • Project & Change Management certifications
