About the team

The A&H Product Area has been established to build a business platform in support of Employers Stop Loss business and potential expansion Accident and Health products that will enable simplicity and efficiency to our internal clients through innovative use of data and technology, while ensuring the platform is fit for potential future disruption in the market. Customers will experience products and a customer journey that is consistent, easy to understand and reliable.

 

About the role

As a Senior Product Owner with strong quantitative background you will steer the development of internal costing modules for Accident & Health. It will be up to you to develop an innovative vision for those costing modules and to take full responsibility for steering and prioritizing the work of the software development teams who will help realize this vision.

 

 

Your responsibilities include:

  • Developing and nurturing a network of business partners in the product underwriting, actuaries, and data scientist communities. You will be working in a fast-paced environment engaging frequently with this network to develop innovative and impactful proposals that improve our ability to accurately cost the quotes being issued to the customers.
  • Working with other Product Owners to analyze, understand and solution complex business requirements.
  • Maintaining the backlogs of up to two development squads setting objectives and goals, breaking down concepts into manageable achievable steps. You will continuously prioritize the work to be done based on business value, optimally balancing functional requirements and reduction of technical debt.
  • Evaluating progress and supporting each product iteration by coordinating and engaging in planning, refinement, review, and sprint daily activities.
  • Supporting the testing activities by creating relevant test scenarios for stories and features, performing tests, supporting the UAT.
  • Acquire a deep working knowledge of the costing modules being developed and actively share it with end users through impactful trainings and release notes.
  • Developing a keen understanding of the costing data being processed by the costing modules whose development you steer so as to have an impactful contribution to our data driven underwriting aspirations.

 

About you

  • 8-12 or more years' experience in working in an insurance company in a quantitative role, e.g. Actuary, data scientist.
  • Desire to use this knowledge and experience to improve the costing systems used by underwriting deal teams.
  • Strong analytical, quantitative skills and problem-solving skills. You consider yourself as a data savvy person! A degree from an academic institution in a quantitative field, e.g. Mathematics, Engineering, Natural Science or Computer Science rounds up your profile.
  • Strong interest and previous experience with product management activities. Eager to work in an agile set-up continuously improving your agile skills.
  • Good programming skills with any object-oriented Programming language, e.g. Java, Python, R.
  • You enjoy discovering and describing the current state situation, understand strategic business goals, design and architecture of future state, perform gap analysis and make recommendations to business leadership that will help achieve strategic goals.
  • Highly committed, energetic, proficient and reliable. You are customer focused, enjoy interacting with people and show a can do and hands on approach when working with customers and colleagues.
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written).
