About the Role


Are you ready for a new challenge?

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced data leader with a passion for better using data and technology to deliver data services for your customers. You will work in a multi-functional environment and will be responsible for designing, implementing and re-architecting complex data pipelines in close collaboration with data users within the A&H product area.  As the senior data architect, you will be responsible to reshape the data pipeline leveraging state of the art technology. You will be expected to take end-to-end ownership of deliverables, gaining a full understanding of the Corporate Solutions A&H data and the business logic required to deliver analytics solutions. You will be a servant leader who will coordinate closely with your Product Area Lead to stay aligned on business goals and make sure the teams are progressing and delivering against them. You will also represent the voice of the customer, whether internal or external, and make sure that team members understand customer data needs and preferences.

Your main responsibilities:

  • Oversee the design of data models and interfaces in close collaboration with the various product areas and project squads and map to Corporate Solutions’ Information Model (Ontology Model).
  • Re-design, maintain and evolve the overall data architecture and data transformation pipeline and reengineer where applicable into a modern API architecture Improve existing data models ensuring availability, governance and quality while implementing new business capabilities and integration points with other engineering teams
  • Define the advanced data analytics capabilities required to enable business outcomes
  • Engage with strategic vendors and partners discussing product roadmap and direction based on Swiss Re's priorities and aspirations
  • Manage feature requests towards data platform vendor(s)

We expect you to have proven knowledge of data platforms and tangible examples of designing and developing complex data pipelines to support better decision making in the business.  We also expect you to have strong leadership skills to lead activities, projects and changes across multiple user groups and stakeholders. We expect a client oriented and service driven attitude. To round it up, very strong communication skills in English is required. Your focus on business value and outcomes is critical for this role in order to justify the continuous investment into the platform and deliver on the strategic objectives of Swiss Re's Tech strategy.


About the Team 


The Accident & Health (A&H) product area is executing a major transformation to support a five-year growth strategy.  A&H is looking to leverage data as a strategic asset to fundamentally change the end-to-end value chain.  We are seeking to enable simplicity and efficiency to our internal clients through innovative use of data and technology, while ensuring the platforms are fit for potential future disruption in the market. Customers will experience products and a customer journey that is consistent, easy to understand and reliable.


About You

  • Minimum 10+ years of working experience with at least 4+ years in a similar position
  • Ideally experience in insurance/reinsurance or financial industry
  • Experience in information & data governance as well as in IT project management would be a plus
  • Experience with data and analytics technology, including but not limited to Hadoop, HDFS, Palantir, Spark, Java, Python, R, Kubernetes, ElasticSearch, and others.
  • Experience in integrating platforms – e.g. as SaaS into the enterprise landscape including managing the full onboarding, InfoSec, Access Management, and other processes as required.
  • Experience with the cloud-based services from major cloud providers including but not limited to Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services.
  • Experience in developing interoperability concepts between platforms and components, cross cloud in order to achieve a cohesive and consistent set of advanced analytics capabilities
  • Proven track record of delivering results and impact
  • Strong business acumen and a deep strategic mindset
  • Knowledge and experience working with various data technology platforms
  • Deep experience in data modelling
  • Experience working with and understanding the needs of customers or clients (internal or external)
  • You have experience in leading diverse teams based in multiple locations and excel in supervising, coaching, mentoring, and motivating others
  • A desire and openness to learning and continuous improvement, both of yourself and your team members
  • Proven analytical skills and experience making decisions based on hard and soft data
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • English fluency is a requirement
  • Excellent in team and organizational development by providing the highest quality of services
