About the Role

 

You lead the development and extension of digital solutions in the natural hazards and climate change space. These solutions support our clients to grow their business and boost their profitability and efficiency. 

  • You define the solutions strategy, you make sure the voice of the client is heard, you bring all vital internal and external partner together to build, market, sell, and deliver the solutions and you take ownership for the implementation of the product with the client. 
  • You are constantly seeking to improve and extend our solutions offering with innovative data, methodology, analytics, and you can proof the concept of your ideas with prototypes. 

 

About the team 

Our team offers solutions to our clients in the Property and Specialty area. We help our clients with risk intelligence (e.g. CatNet™), risk assessment (e.g. NatCat Modelling Engine), product innovation (e.g. Parametric platform) and operations (e.g. real-time flood assessment). We combine Swiss Re's internal with external knowledge and data and turn it into simple and smooth products. Our focus is the consumer need. You will encounter a vibrant and very international team with a high energy level and a can-do demeanor, which celebrates success but also learns from mistakes. About you 

  • You have at least a master's in quantitative science (preferably natural sciences) 
  • You have several years of experience in stochastic natural perils model development and its application (preferably for wind, flood and other weather-related hazards)
  • You have hands on experience in Property (re)insurance and in-depth knowhow of natural catastrophe risk assessment. Experience with index-based insurance and man-made risks is a plus. 
  • You have experience in understanding customer needs and translate it into successful product development 
  • You have a profound overview of emergent topics (new data sets, new products) in the natural catastrophe and Property space and you know the relevant players 
  • You can code in various environments (e.g. Python, R, MATLAB, PowerBI, ESRI ArcGIS) and you bring a sound background in data analytics and analytical problem-solving skills 
  • You are creative, showing a high degree of own initiative and high-energy 
  • You have strong project and partner management skills and the ability to influence 
  • You have a strategic and demonstrated entrepreneurial demeanor. Experience as a Product Owner is a plus. 
  • You look at problems with curiosity and see it as a challenge to solve them. You're passionate about new insights. 
  • You are a team-player, and happy to contribute actively to the overall team spirit with passion 
  • You demonstrate the ability and passion to work in a global, multicultural environment, and to be mobile in terms of workplace or location, if required. I'm at ease with working in virtual teams. 
  • You are excited to work with clients, business partners or Swiss Re colleagues 
  • You can adapt quickly to a changing environment 
  • You communicate easily and your interpersonal skills help you to connect quickly. You can explain complex matter in simple words to a lay man audience.
  • You are proficient in English and can communicate also in other languages
