About the role:

We are seeking for a highly motivated and experienced data scientist/data analyst with a real passion for solving business problems to join our team. You will be based out of Bangalore and be part of team that is responsible for the development of the analytics prototyping and solutions for the global customer and distribution team.

  Your main responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively in cross-functional teams to analyse business requirements, evaluate customer's data needs and deliver innovative analytics solutions.
  • Clearly communicate trends, insights and findings in a way that is meaningful for the business.
  • Support with the development of an organization-wide data strategy, standards and principles to enable a data driven decision making culture.
  • Work with data tools and frameworks including data storage, extraction, validation, statistical modelling, machine learning, data visualisation to design, develop, and deploy data analytics solutions.
  • Constantly looks for new data, tools, technologies and insights to enhance solutions and help create differentiation in every part of the customer journey.
  • Showcase a commercial mindset and in-depth understanding of CorSo’s business and processes.
  • Continually learn and provide thought leadership on application of analytics.

 Customer and Distribution steering supports Swiss Re's Customer & Distribution organization with data and technology solutions using advanced analytics and big data processing from structured and unstructured data for our business and strategic initiatives. We are a global team of highly skilled professionals in advanced analytics techniques, data & text mining and visual analytics. The team provides services in the areas of

Analytics Consulting: In collaboration with business teams identifying significant business opportunities.

Analytics Delivery (Modelling & Prototyping): Defining the most appropriate technical solution approach and validating the scenarios through MVPs.

Analytics Solution Enabling: Implementing, improving and maintaining analytics solutions to tackle business issues.

 

About you:

Education and experience requirements

  • Master’s or PHD in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or another quantitative field with more than seven years of experience in data analysis, data management and/or data science role.
  • Prior experience in (re)insurance or consulting required.

Expected areas of skills

  • Solid and in-depth understanding of data science and related areas, especially machine learning (random forests, bagging, boosting, decision tree, etc).
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyse and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong business focus with ability to think out of box and solve ambiguous problems.
  • Experience in working with large and unstructured data (e.g. text or image) within a business context
  • Expert knowledge with Python / R / PySpark. Experience in Big Data Platforms, front-end development and visualisation is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for coordinating across teams.
  • Strong team player with willingness to mentor and inspire other team members.
