About the Role

  • Responsible for all bases of Accounting & Reporting – US GAAP, Statutory and Economic Value Management (EVM)
  • Owns end-to-end deliverables for legal entity reporting
  • Responsible for Global derivative reporting
  • Willingness to challenge status quo processes and desire to implement process improvements
  • Assumption of additional projected-related responsibilities as well as ad-hoc requests from internal clients
  • Participation in team collaboration and communication sessions
  • Seeking out continuous coaching (formal/informal) from both local and US team members
  • Performs peer-to-peer coaching as appropriate
  • Responsible for day-to-day execution of control structure, challenging team members for ongoing enhancements to control structure
  • Additional tasks and responsibilities will include the following:
  • Ensuring successful/timely completion of monthly/quarterly deliverables
  • Performing critical self-review of daily/monthly work product
  • Focus on teamwork – taking on additional duties during peak times
  • Preparation of financial statements and responsible for presenting to CFOs
  • Building and maintaining relationships with key internal clients
  • Preparation of internal client/regulatory/audit deliverables


About the Team

As a member of the Americas Carriers Reporting team, the successful applicant will be responsible for carrier accounting and reporting in support of the Americas Specialty carriers. Carriers include investment carriers and services companies, of which some are regulated. 

We are looking for a Finance team member that will be responsible for completing duties across all bases of Accounting – US GAAP, Statutory and Economic Value Management (Swiss Re's proprietary integrated economic valuation framework). You will assume responsibility, together with the local Accountants in the US, for various components of the end-to-end Accounting & Reporting process of assigned legal entities, according to the relevant accounting principles. Your duties will be performed in compliance with local/Group requirements and the internal control framework.


  • Position will report directly to the Team Lead Specialty A&R, Bangalore
  • Day-to-day interaction with US Specialty Carriers team
  • Prioritize daily work to ensure all deadlines are met
  • Perform critical self-review to ensure high quality work product
  • Assimilation of local culture with Americas Carriers Reporting culture
  • Ability to develop and cultivate relationships with local cross-functional business partners and global business partners
  • Frequent and pragmatic communication in regard to work load and issues encountered with both local and US based management


About you

  • 4+ years Investment accounting and reporting experience (including derivatives)
  • Graduate/Post-graduate in accounting & finance; CA/CPA or other equivalent designation is a plus
  • (Re) insurance accounting experience is a plus
  • Good working knowledge of USGAAP/IFRS; exposure to local statutory filings is a plus
  • Self-starter, able to work independently
  • Good written/verbal communication skills; Fluent in English
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative team environment
  • Strong desire to learn and develop, receptive to coaching (both positive and critical)
