About the Role

This position is an exciting opportunity to be part of our Actuarial Tools and Analytics function located in Bangalore. Principal Responsibilities

  • Develop Actuarial costing tools based on statistical/probabilistic concepts.
  • Develop knowledge of processes and systems and run them across all front and back-end functions, including intersections with other functional units and external vendors and partners.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with distributed team members and clients, you are not afraid to share your views and ideas while keeping open to different opinions, being courageous and always chipping into the overall growth of the team.
  • Be a problem solver: analyze issues, identify root causes, propose solutions, and consistently supervise issue resolution.
  • Your focus is on growing your domain knowledge and improving the actuarial and underwriting tools used.

About the Team:

We are part of distributed P&C Actuarial Services team operating in Zurich, London, Toronto, and Bangalore. The key objective of our distributed team is to build and lead the global underwriting, costing, and pricing tools to write the property, casualty, Cyber and Special Lines (Aviation, Agriculture, Marine etc.). In addition, the team deals with the end-to-end underwriting value chain. We define and implement the strategy for a gradual transformation of the landscape for the underwriting of the future focusing on digitization, automation, transformation, and data.

  • Development and productive maintenance of major costing/pricing tools and analytical tools following reinsurance business needs and requirements in close collaboration with the existing Tools and Systems team.
  • Ensuring operations are implemented according to internal guidelines and standard methodologies.
  • Providing tool support, knowledge, documentation, and training.
  • Supporting development and reviewing local, tactical tools (End Using Applications)

About You

  • 1-5 years of hands-on development as a programming or Actuarial professional.
  • Expertise in one or more of the following languages / runtimes: Java, C# (Preferred), R, Python, or similar language.
  • Strong relational DB skills – SQL, Joins
  • You have worked in agile environment(s) and are competent in tools such as Confluence and/or Azure DevOps.
  • Experience developing software with minimal guidance and understanding when to bring up issues as appropriate.
  • Preferably domain experience in property, casualty or cyber (re)insurance
  • You can focus on multiple initiatives at once and tackle problems quickly.
  • You demonstrate a creative demeanor with a strong curiosity about new technologies. You are hands-on and enjoy resolving problems.
  • Experience with cloud-based technologies, including Azure, AWS an advantage
  • Accomplished interpersonal and communication skills – demonstrates a clear and eloquent standard of written and verbal English communication in a sophisticated environment.
