About the role:

  • Responsible for the accuracy of subledger accounts at BS/IS level, across the valuations
  • Analysis of subledger variance YoY & QoQ, in respect to accuracy and completeness. And substantiate the variances
  • Analysis of subledger quarterly financial statements for accuracy and completeness
  • Coordinate on timeliness of quarterly L&H IGRs checks
  • Production and timely submission of Life IGR financial statements
  • Responsible for the quarterly reporting to all counterparties
  • Support the overall IGR process management
  • Support team in process documentation and help in creation of SOP's
  • Ad hoc support in providing expert reports and analysis to our key stakeholders
  • Any other ad hoc tasks as required time to time basis

 

About the team:

The L&H Subledger Controlling Team in Bangalore within the Financial Accounting Technical department is responsible for the timely and accurate accounting and analysis of reinsurance technical balances (premiums, claims, commissions, reserves) for the Life & Health business.

 

The Financial Accounting Technical department in Group Finance is responsible for the close processes, includes P&L and Balance Sheet accounts in all economic valuations (EVM, SST, SII). Analysis of the movements, aggregation of accounting technical & business analysis and explanation to internal clients / stakeholders.

 

As Accountant II, you shall report directly to the Team Leader L&H Subledger Controlling L&H II.

You will be responsible for completing duties across all bases of Accounting – US GAAP, US Statutory and Economic Value Management (Swiss Re's proprietary integrated economic valuation framework). You will assume responsibility, together with the local Accountants in the regions, for the end-to-end Financial Monitoring and Controlling process of assigned tasks, according to the relevant accounting principles. Your duties will be performed in compliance with local / Group requirements and the internal control framework. This position is designed as a growth opportunity, adding increasingly challenging assignments, list of responsibilities to enhance knowledge base for the individual's progress.

 

  Assimilation of local culture with Financial Accounting culture, establishing tone for high- performance expectations

 

About you:

  • A Chartered Accountant Intern or MBA Finance with minimum 3 years of post-qualification/graduation experience with good understanding of Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet
  • Insurance or reinsurance accounting experience must
  • Experience in working in a complex process environment
  • Experience in working in cross-functional teams
  • Experience with accounting / reporting systems
  • Knowledge of US GAAP is a plus
  • Willingness to develop an understanding of Swiss Re Group systems architecture for life business across all valuations
  • Strong process & control orientation to enable delivery of quality output within short deadlines
  • Good MS Office skills required
  • Demonstrate personal accountability and dedication for area of responsibility
  • Team player, good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to fluently communicate in English is necessary
