Portfolio Analytics Lead P&C UW Asia

Position Summary

  • The role will work closely with P&C UW Asia & ANZ Hub Head, various L2 portfolio owners on portfolio management (mainly on Property, Motor and Liability) and Team Lead UW Analytics Asia, Bangalore.

Major tasks include:

  • Support formalization of the 3 Strategic Plans by providing detailed portfolio insights, reviews and recommendations.
  • Prepare regular reports on Asia P&C Treaty business performances
  • Produce analysis on Asia P&C Treaty business performances as per ad-hoc demands
  • Support in annual Business Plan process – co-ordinate with all P&C desk-heads for their inputs on Core, Transactions and Solutions. Review and challenge if necessary. Collate inputs to formalize an overall picture for Asia Hub Head. Work closely with global & regional Finance team and be prepared to answer queries from top management.
  • The position will support the annual Parameter Taskforce process for Property & Casualty Treaty business and ensure quality outputs within the predefined timeline.
  • The role will take lead / provide support and re-present, as necessary to various global / regional projects on Asia region's Portfolio related topics
  • The role is expected to lead ad-hoc operational topics for P&C UW Asia & ANZ Hub Head and L2 Portfolio owners for Asia Property, Motor and Liability Treaty UW portfolio
  • The person should be driving region's UW related topics and projects under P&C UW Asia & ANZ Hub Head's guidance as per business priorities.
  • The person will be responsible in building a strong P&C underwriting analytical community in Bangalore and develop portfolio mind-set.
  • The person should be able to coach and support junior members of the team in enhancing their portfolio and data capabilities.

About you / requirements

Skills and Experience

  • 6+ years of work experience in Insurance or Reinsurance – preferably with experience in Catastrophe Loss modelling /Underwriting function/Actuarial Function
  • Bachelor's degree (or above) in Actuarial Science / Finance / Statistics or related field
  • Association with any recognised actuarial bodies is a plus
  • Proactive and strong communicator, both written and oral. Demonstrated ability to articulate thought processes & suggestions in a clear, structured and concise manner.
  • Demonstrated strong Data-driven approach, attention to details and have been a proponent of analytics and data management to the wider business.
  • Strong demonstration of Data management skills in previous roles.
  • Strong team-player with an ability to collaborate with other teams and with different level of seniority in organisation.
  • Demonstrated strong ability to understand the needs of the Portfolio owners and/or Underwriting community
  • Ability to work with multiple UW and data related projects for region and deliver in a timely manner
  • Ability to drive UW related topics and project across hub and good project management and expectation management skills
  • To work and get results in international teams with no hierarchical structures
  • Willingness to travel to the other locations in Asia occasionally if needed.
