About the team
L&H Technical Accounting COO Operations located in Bangalore, handling the Technical Accounting Operations processes for L&H Reinsurance. With our continuous improvement and Commercial mind-set, our aim is to provide our external clients and internal stakeholders with efficient, easy and effective ways of conducting business within an environment where the risks are implied.
About the role
This leadership position includes oversight and overall responsibility for leading the L&H Technical Accounting (TA) specific Region Operations team. This leadership responsibility requires strong operational oversight and active people management for approximately 7-10 people located in Bangalore. The structure of the team includes Operational experts and Individual contributors fully responsible for the Regional/ Market Specific LH TA processes. This role will also actively collaborate with regional stakeholders both inside and outside L&H COO Operations within Asia region. The position holder should have a strong talent management/development capability, in addition, strategic thinking is desired for this position. This role demands excellent collaborative attitude & good technical know of the L&H Business.
The major responsibilities are-
- Manage team/s of L&H Technical Accounting, ensuring deadlines are met and issues are escalated in a timely manner.
- Manage Operational KPI's for market specific L&H TA Operation team to achieve the targets agreed and service requirements.
- Act as a point of contact for ensuring processes run efficiently for the assigned regions
- Support Manager TA Asia Operations for operational management meetings; contribute towards projects & initiatives related to Asia and Global regions
- Executing the operational strategy in alignment with global Operations
- Ensure adherence regional/local regulatory requirements Data Protection aspects across the Asia markets
- Ensure adherence to procedures and guidelines to fulfill Risk Management, Governance and Data Quality requirements as defined in the Risk & Control and Compliance Frameworks
- Drive Operational Excellence & Efficiency through continuous process improvements.
- Support Manager TA Asia Operations in hiring talent with appropriate skillsets; and developing existing talent in the furtherance of these strategic priorities.
- Proven ability to lead through changing market conditions, which may have operational impact on team
- Engage with relevant stakeholders like Valuation, Pricing, Client Market, Portfolio Management &Underwriting team and ensure credible process/Data related information are provided to them.
- Ensure major incidents process & escalation procedures are kept up to date and lead postmortem and preventive actions
- Continuously improvise and maintain inventory of technical knowledge needed to build and sustain the operations.•
- Provide strong support in driving the Culture along with key focus on Business "Transaction", "CORE" with a "Commercial mind-set"
- Extend support in various L&H projects pertaining to Treaty Onboarding, Data management, IFRS, claims deep dive, Working capacity model, Early monitoring process.
About you
- A Bachelor/master's degree in business management/ science /Financial Planning
- Significant experience in L&H reinsurance/insurance industry with proven ability to work cross functionally and across geographies especially within Asia region
- People leadership experience (minimum of 3-4 yrs)
- People who participated/nominated in/for Ilead program would be preferred
- Experience in/understanding of Asian Life & Health market is desired
- Strong People management experience in leading a team of experts
- Strong analytical, problem solving and project management skills.
- Experience or working knowledge in one (or more) data related scripting languages and relational databases is a plus.
- Experience of managing multiple stakeholders often who are demanding & thrive on Timelines.
- Excellent communication skills, highly committed, energetic, proficient, reliable.
- Strong process and Commercial mindset, with the ability to see the end-to-end process.
