About the role:

We are looking for a Product Owner to join us for our Data Engineering & Analytics product. We are a Product Area of 8 products taking care of all digital solutions for Corporate Real Estate & Services and Group Communications at Swiss Re. We work in a scaled agile model with a shared leadership team and broad aligned autonomy for our squads. The role includes the following responsibilities:

  • Partner with stakeholders in Corporate Real Estate & Services, Group Communications, and the wider Product Area to understand their data strategies, priorities and needs for data insights & analytics, to develop a product vision and agreed roadmap.
  • Collaborate with internal and external Data Engineers within the DE&A Squad to break the product roadmap down into epics and tasks within the product backlog. Prioritise work items from the backlog, set the sprint goals and participate in agile events.
  • Partner with the Chapter Lead to continue the journey of building Data Products on Swiss Re's strategic data and analytics platforms and retiring legacy data marts. Engage with internal Group Data Services to understand strategy, discover best practices and influence their direction.
  • Maximise the product value and take ownership of the corresponding budget. Define outcome-based metrics (OKRs) and measure the value built. Actively balance technical debt, speed and cost as part of the product development cycle.
  • Co-lead the squad together with the Scrum Master and technical Chapter Leads and foster an agile mentality. Improve data quality, automate data loads and curation as well as strengthen data governance.

About you:

Must have…

  • Many years of practical experience as a Product Owner leading a team of up to 15 people towards a defined product vision
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills, experience in presenting complex topics to challenging audiences
  • Excellent stakeholder management, always ensuring proactive, transparent communication
  • A passion to lead people in your squad with your interpersonal skills, through listening, inspiring, encouraging as well as giving/receiving feedback.
  • English language proficiency, with optional German skills.


Nice to have…

  • A university degree in IT, Business Administration or equivalent qualification
  • Practical experience with data services including ETL/ELT tools, data mart design, integration services like Azure Data Factory and visualisation tools like Power BI
  • A Scrum Product Owner certification
  • High emotional intelligence which transcends cultural barriers
  • Strong analytical skills
