Reporting Professional II

About the role:

  • Develop deeper understanding of Canadian Life & health business and the Canadian regulatory requirements
  • Production and analysis of high quality, well-explained quarterly financial results for the Canadian Life & Health branch across all bases of reporting: US GAAP, Statutory EVM & IFRS 17.
  • Willingness to challenge status quo processes and desire to implement process improvements
  • Assumption of additional projected-related responsibilities as well as ad-hoc requests from different teams within SwissRe
  • Seeking continuous coaching (formal / informal) from both Bangalore and US team members
  • Provide comprehensive analysis and business commentaries with respect to major drivers, reporting, monitoring according to management requirements –
  • Ensure compliance with risk and control frameworks and audit requirements - Participate and support Finance related projects.

 

About the team:

The Life & Health team is responsible for IFRS, US GAAP & Statutory reporting to the Vice President, Canada L&H and enables the publication of branch financial results with Canadian regulator on regular basis. The team is also supports the accounting & reporting actuarial, technical accounting & tax teams as required. 

We are looking for an experienced Finance Controller who will be responsible for reporting across all bases of Accounting – US GAAP, Statutory and Economic Value Management & IFRS 17.  You will be based out in Bangalore and will assume responsibility, together with the local Accountants in Canada, for the end-to-end financial reporting for the Canadian L& H entity.  Your duties will be performed in compliance with local / Group requirements and the internal control framework. 

 

About you:

  • University Postgraduate in Finance; CA /CPA will be preferred.
  • 2-4 years relevant work experience in an accounting, auditing, or financial analysis
  • Knowledge of Financial Services is a must, with a strong preference to insurance/reinsurance business understanding.
  • Basic understanding of IFRS 17, exposure to USGAAP/Statutory insurance/reinsurance reporting preferred. Effective Q1 2023, Canadian entity will be going live for IFRS 17 reporting.  Hence, fundamental understanding of the critical concepts of this standard is preferred.
  • Flexibility to work in CET working hours and stretch during QTR close as required.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Word & PPT. Exposure to new tools like Power BI, Power query etc. will be preferred.
