Reporting Professional III

About the team:

 

 

Global Carrier Management team is responsible to deliver accurate and timely financials; manage statutory capital requirements for the legal entity/Branch; understand and analyze the key business drivers. As a member of this team, you will be responsible for carrier accounting and reporting in support of the Canadian P&C reinsurance entity – Swiss Reinsurance Company Ltd, Canadian P&C Branch.

 

We are looking for a Reporting Professional that will be primarily responsible for IFRS 17 reporting. You will be based out in Bangalore and will assume responsibility, together with the local Accountants in Canada, for the end-to-end Accounting & Reporting process of the Canadian P&C reinsurance branch. Your duties will be performed in compliance with local / Group requirements and the internal control framework. The individual will also have responsibility for both recurring and ad hoc capital management requirements. 

 

About the Role: Position summary & Main tasks/activities :

 

  • Production and analysis of high quality, well-explained quarterly financial results for the Branch on basis of IFRS 17 reporting.
  • Using strong analytical skills, the role will support the explanation of business performance drivers of the P&C business, collaborating closely with the Actuaries, Cross-functional teams and Finance teams to understand and constructively analyze the key movements.
  • Quarterly & Ad-Hoc presentations on financial result drivers to various senior stakeholders
  • Willingness to challenge status quo processes and desire to implement process improvements
  • Assumption of additional project- related responsibilities as well as ad-hoc requests from internal clients
  • Additional tasks and responsibilities will include the following:
    • Ensuring successful/timely completion of monthly/quarterly deliverables; Heavily involved in preparation of quarterly / annual statutory close to prepare various schedules
    • Analysis and presentation of investment and expenses analysis to senior management
    • Develop deeper understanding of Canadian regulatory capital model
    • Preparation of certain internal client/regulatory/audit deliverables
    • Performing critical self-review of daily/monthly work product
    • Focus on teamwork – taking on additional duties during peak times
    • Ensure process controls are met consistently
    • Building and maintaining relationships with key internal clients

About you: 

 

Experience Background

 

  • CA /CPA/ACCA or MBA will be preferred
  • 5+ years relevant work experience in an accounting, auditing or financial analysis
  • Knowledge of Financial Services or Insurance accounting experience is preferable
  • Basic understanding of IFRS 17, IFRS 9, exposure to USGAAP/Statutory insurance/reinsurance reporting preferred
  • Flexibility to work in CET working hours and stretch during QTR close/critical project timelines as required
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and Power Point. Exposure to tools like Power BI, Power query etc. will be an added advantage
