Senior Financial Analyst II(Planning & Steering)

The position is part of the Financial Modelling Team which is an integral part of the Performance Management Hub (PMH) within Bangalore, and it reports into the Head of Financial Modelling Team, Bangalore. The PMH hub sits within the wider Reinsurance Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A). The team works in close liaison with the Reinsurance Finance Transformation & Planning (FTP) team within the FP&A department and is heavily focussed on (re)defining the IFRS based reinsurance plan. In this regard, the team is exposed to significant opportunities to shape the associated processes, systems and metrics. We are looking for a Senior Analyst Financial Planning who supports us on various workstreams of the plan (re)design as well as the IFRS based plan production for Reinsurance Business Unit, continuously looks out for modelling improvements and who serves as a partner for all relevant planning stakeholders.

 

About the Role:

 

The core activities of the analyst will include:  Operation of various financial modelling tools used for the construction of the financial plans for the Reinsurance Business Unit leading to the construction of balance sheet / income statement / cash flow statements etc.  Ownership of various planning related tasks including ad-hoc financial assessment and analysis on the business cases for plan, execution of various controls etc, ensuring issues are raised appropriately

 

Ownership of tasks related to the design, testing and implementation of various workstreams related to new IFRS 17 based plan  Partnering with the Line of Business Controller, Underwriting, Reserving, Investment, Funding, Treasury and other functions to have complete Reinsurance BU Plan  Support and optimize our operational and governance framework to ensure tasks are conducted effectively  Support the creation of management meeting material and documentation related to plan

 

About the Team

 

The Financial Modelling Team is an integral part of the Performance Management (PMH) Hub within FP&A, working in close liaison with the Reinsurance Finance Transformation & Planning team (FTP) within the FP&A department. The team is collectively responsible for the annual Reinsurance Plan as well as spearheading significant finance transformation initiatives with the aim of making the FP&A systems and processes ready for IFRS 17. This includes the operation and continued improvement of the modelling tools used for planning and forward-looking modelling. In addition, the team supports managing the financial performance of the Business Unit and Divisions within Reinsurance.

 

About you:

 

Overall, 5 - 9 years of working experience actuarial or finance functions within (reinsurance)

 Excellent command of spoken and written English

 Qualified Actuary/CFA/CA from acknowledged society an advantage / alternatively significant experience with financial modelling

 Intellectual curiosity with eagerness to improve financial modelling Specific technical skills

 Excellent understanding of EVM (or similar economic based accounting framework)

 Experience with P&C or L&H actuarial/financial modelling

 Excellent understanding of financial statements

 Strong command of MS office tools including advanced skills in Excel and good PowerPoint skills Specific soft skills

 Strong, collaborative and balanced personality

 Experience of collaborating with global stakeholders  Strong communication skills e.g., ability to communicate complex issues in a clear and concise fashion

 Excellent analytical thinking (structure, analyse, conclude)

 Self-motivated, passion to perform and commitment to work

 Ability to prioritise issues based on structured analysis
