About the Role

We are offering a unique opportunity for you to work with industry experts within Swiss Re Institute (SRI) on global research projects with a tangible business impact. Based in SRI China centre in Beijing, a qualified candidate should have a deep understanding about Chinese economy and re/insurance market development in a structured manner, and you are also required to be able to help maintain an effective project infrastructure across multiple functions to support the strategy implementation for the Research and Innovation Hub in China.

Core Responsibilities:

1. Work on various research projects on China-specific topics, providing insights for re/insurance business development in China.

2. Drive Swiss Re's initiative projects in China, by coordinate with business units (across local, regional and headquarter) and key client managers (CM). This role may include but not limited to preparing analytical material for targeted purposes, dealing with ad-hoc requests from CMs, helping with hosting themed events in China, manage progress of cross-functional projects, etc.

3. Provide views on Chinese insurance market growth, trends and key topics, and estimate/forecast headline market growth variables (e.g. L&H/P&C) as well as growth rates by line of business. Closely monitor and assess economic, policy and regulatory developments.

4. Support Swiss Re's thought-leadership topics and client outreach by co-authoring publications (e.g. Swiss Re's sigma, Economic Insights, etc) and preparing high-quality and visually appealing presentations.

5. Support project management taken by SRI, including monitoring progress & preparing deliverables for functional work streams

About the Team

SRI China Center is a team with thought leadership in the market, who are responsible for proving in-depth research on China to multiple stakeholders (including public sector, client, and academia), leveraging global and local research forces to the market reflecting world first class research capacity, and supporting strategic planning to business unit.

About You

  • A Master degree in Economics or insurance science, or related fields is required. A degree from another field is also possible, though excellent knowledge in Economics/Insurance is required.
  • At least 5-7 years of work experience in economic/insurance research or related areas is required.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to focus on details without losing track of the bigger picture.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Chinese.
  • Capable to communicate effectively with senior managers as well as with people with different backgrounds.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) is required.
  • Econometric and programming skills in one of the major statistical software/programming languages (R, Stata, Matlab, Python, EViews) is an advantage.
  • Internationally focused and highly motivated with a can-do attitude; dedication to continuous learning and willingness to challenge and improve the status quo.
  • Very agile, open-minded and curious personality with ability to work under tight timelines.
  • Mature and proactive; showing a high degree of own initiative.
  • Ability and enthusiasm to work in a global and multicultural environment.
  • Experience in project/ process management work will be a plus.
