About the role

The Swiss Re China Business Development team is responsible for driving the strategic dialogue among all Swiss Re China Leaders as well as selected Swiss Re Group Leaders. This includes the structured definition and development of growth topics for Swiss Re in China as well as the articulation of future requirements towards the shared foundation / the enabling teams in China.

Through its wide range of external and internal expertise, this new team will act as the backbone to deliver Swiss Re's long-term China Ambition. A strong entrepreneurial attitude will enable the team to develop cohesive strategies and roadmaps that unites our various China teams and deliver additional Franchise Value for Swiss Re in the future.

Your role as the China Business Development Director will be to spearhead the activities related to this goal and to partner with the various China and regional executives, across all operating units of Swiss Re. This will include contributing and orchestrating all aspects of the strategy definition and execution process as well as provide regular updates to regional and global executive committees. And since this a new role, you are comfortable to deal with a significant level of ambiguity and to provide clarity to your stakeholders on how to move forward. Specifically, this role has three focus areas:


Strategy Development:

  • Closely collaborate with China Business Leaders to explore new ways to increase the Franchise Value for our China business
  • Identify synergies and highlight opportunities to drive the ideation and definition of specific topics crafting new revenue streams in the mid- to long-term
  • Assess feasibly of these topics and ensure adequate business cases development as part of the innovation process


Project and Process Management:

  • Own a fit-for-purpose innovation process, providing a platform for local, regional and global stakeholders to contribute to the strategy development process
  • Support the strategy definition and idea incubation phase with effective and efficient project management techniques
  • Design and own an adequate governance process to ensure required information sharing, stakeholder management and decision making


Leadership and Change Management:

  • Act as the facilitator of the newly formed One Swiss Re China Leadership team as well lead two team members
  • Role model a strong Oneness attitude across all Swiss Re units in China and evolve/adjust the newly defined China Business Development team concept as required
  • Share joint long-term goals with business leaders, ultimately articulated by delivering a financial profit for Swiss Re China
