About the role

Reporting to the Head of Life & Health BM Actuarial China, you will be mainly responsible for China GAAP/CROSS reporting including production/control process and result communication. In addition, you are expected to provide quality actuarial support for other reporting (USGAAP, Swiss Stat, EVM, IFRS17 etc), and internal data/system and capital management.


About the team

BM Actuarial team is part of the L&H Business Management division in Swiss Re, responsible for reporting under various accountings. The team works closely with other departments in Asia's L&H community, including those in business origination functions (Client Markets and Products teams). Furthermore, the team has interdependent relationships with other units within the L&H Business Management division.


Your responsibilities

  1. Quarterly reserving and reporting processes:
  1. Enhance quarterly valuation model and process with appropriate control;
  2. Be in charge of China GAAP/CROSS/reporting;
  3. Participate in IFRS17 implementation in China;
  4. Monitor, project and communicate performance of both in-force portfolio and growing new business
  1. Engage with other internal Swiss Re teams (in Business Management and other partner functions) and with external clients and regulators, as appropriate, to ensure effective management of L&H in-force portfolios.
  2. Utilize, review, and where required, conduct experience studies on all risks covered and on IBNRs for reserving and reporting purposes
  3. The main focus is on the L&H business written in the China branch, with expectation of providing support to business portfolios from other branches of Swiss Re Asia as required (Management retains the discretion to add or change the duties of the position at any time.)


About you

The ability to drive the creation of efficient processes and to leverage these to provide insight to the business is key to success in this role. In addition, you will have the following attributes:

  • Qualified or well on track for FCAA, FSA, FIA, FIAA or equivalent internationally recognized qualifications;
  • Strong technical knowledge on CROSS/CN GAAP for L&H business and the ability of data analysis;
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational and influencing skills;
  • Proficient in MS Excel. Knowledge of MS Access, SQL or MoSes modelling system would be considered an advantage;
  • Good spoken and written English and Chinese;
