About the Role

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to take the position as a Compliance Officer based in Beijing, China.  This role will report to the Head of Compliance Asia and closely interact with other compliance colleagues to manage compliance risks in China.  This job is ideal for an ambitious individual who is looking for a challenge and has an interest in working in a dynamically changing international environment. 


The Opportunity:

  • Partner with the Head of Compliance Asia in developing, managing and executing Compliance strategies and program.
  • Promote a strong culture of compliance and integrity.
  • Manage monitoring of regulatory and compliance requirements in coordination with the local compliance teams to ensure the requirements are adhered and adequately mitigated.
  • Advise the business in managing the compliance risks and support them in implementing compliance policies and procedures.
  • Participate in various governance and risk committee meetings as a member to ensure effective governance and control frameworks are in place and the risks are effectively mitigated.
  • Conduct regulatory and compliance risk assessment to identify key compliance risks and mitigating controls.
  • Develop and deliver tailored compliance training and communications to ensure constant internal knowledge management is in line with the changing regulatory requirements and the company policies and guidelines.


About the team:

Compliance has a dual role as an enabling and governance function as mandated by the Group Audit Committee.  The Compliance Team provides support in the execution of the Compliance organization's responsibilities as defined by the Swiss Re Compliance Charter and in accordance with all existing regulations, standards and applicable laws.  We have strong client centricity with dedicated Client facing Compliance teams as well as the Subject Matter Experts who are the specialists for key Compliance Risks and activities.


About you:

  • Excellent written and spoken Mandarin and English is a must;
  • University or equivalent qualification;
  • Minimum 7 years of professional experience in compliance, business consultancy, risk management, audit or related areas for insurance or financial institutions;
  • Strong knowledge in regulatory requirements/issues in various compliance subjects and competency in risk management program. Stay educated and informed on regulatory changes and assess the impact to the business;
  • Proven experience and ability to work effectively with regulators;
  • Excellent decision making, problem solving and analytical skills;
  • Ability to manage multiple projects parallel and coordinate complex assignments across multidisciplinary teams multiple jurisdiction;
  • Strong leadership, organizational and time management skills;
  • Team player with strong communication, interpersonal and cross-cultural skills;
  • Great energy, capable of adopting multiple roles simultaneously.
