About the Team

The L&H Products team in China is comprised of around 20 professional actuaries and underwriters, and the team is growing to deliver the business plan for China.

 

About the Role:

  • Oversight of the terms and conditions on which we conduct L&H business in China, including setting costing assumptions and managing our portfolios
  • Monitoring performance of L&H business in China and acting to grow economic profits
  • Reviewing financial results and monthly performance metrics and providing input to portfolio steering
  • Identifying and leading L&H growth initiatives in China, providing thought leadership on product strategy / appetite, product development and research
  • Leading and engaging a team of cross functional professionals
  • Developing the talent and building a robust succession pipelines
  • Dotted line oversight of the L&H underwriting team
  • Ensuring compliance with Group guidelines and standards applicable to L&H business and owning the team actions fully comply with Swiss Re’s Code of Conduct
  • Representing Swiss Re at industry / actuarial events, conferences and committees
  • Serving as a member on the Asia L&H Products Leadership Team, the Beijing Leadership Management Committee and the Beijing L&H Leadership Committee.

     

    About You

  • Proven leadership and management skills
  • Solid L&H insurance industry expertise and market knowledge, ideally with an actuarial qualification
  • Strong technical understanding of L&H re/insurance
  • Minimum of fifteen years' experience in re/insurance
  • Strong capabilities in global vision, shaping strategy, financial and business acumen, inspiring and building commitment, attracting and developing talent, fostering integration and teamwork, cultivating key relationships, delivering results
  • Multicultural communication skills
  • Readiness and engagement for continuous development and learning
  • Creative mindset and innovative skills
  • Analytical and conceptual skills
