About the Role

In this Claims Specialist role, you will be based in Beijing, and report to Head Claims P&C China. Your job will involve quality end-to-end claims management, support in building up our leading external profile in claims expertise and thought leadership, and working with sales and underwriting colleagues to help Swiss Re achieve its growth plan in China.

As part of the wider Business Management function, the position holder will also work closely with colleagues in accounting, reserving, liability management and operations, to deliver the overall Business Management priorities.

Your key responsibilities

  • Perform a high quality claims services, including identifying claims issues with high impact on Swiss Re, conducting factual analysis, timely reporting and case reserve adequacy, and engaging with clients to achieve good outcomes for both parties.
  • Deliver on agreed key performance indicators and continually strive for operational improvements.
  • Build and maintain good relationships with key client contacts and deliver a value proposition and solutions that meet their needs.
  • Join the client cross functional teams, and work with others to deliver according to the business plan.
  • Provide business insights on trends, issues and opportunities derived from claims handling and analysis, to ensure effective in-force management and product/solutions development.
  • Raise our external expertise profile and strengthen the impact of our thought leadership through publications, events and on-line presence.
  • Ensure an effective working relationship with all teams within China Business Management for a cohesive Business Management value proposition.
  • Actively participate and contribute to Asia-wide projects / initiatives as required from Business Management.


About the Team

Property & Casualty Business Management (P&C BM) manages Swiss Re's global in-force portfolio of property and casualty reinsurance business and covers claims, accounting, liability management, run-off, operations and reserving. The team handles in-force portfolio and supports our clients' growth via knowledge, insights and solutions.


About You

  • Solid experience in P&C insurance claims of at least 7 years, with casualty claims preferred and ideally a legal background. Reinsurance experience is a plus.
  • Excellent knowledge of China insurance market and insurance companies claims operation.
  • Experience in underwriting and/or insurance accounting would be a plus.

  • Project management capability will be your advantage in cross-functional collaboration and working on initiatives.
  • Analytical and commercial mind-set; being agile and flexible to changing environment and needs.
  • Collaborative; you will be working with teams in China, as well as across region in Asia or even globally.
  • Good communication and presentation skills. Good command of verbal and written Mandarin and English.
  • Willing to travel.
