About the Role

  • Builds, maintains and fosters high quality relationships with key internal partners and external stakeholders such as regulators and industry leaders;
  • Review new product and transaction proposals to support risk management signature, with a particular focus on large and structured transactions
  • Pro-actively drives a risk-aware culture in the business;
  • Establishes and documents the risk control framework in China, meeting C-ROSS requirements, and consistent with the Group Risk Management standards
  • Defines and aligns China's risk appetite with BU and Group risk appetite statements and underwriting policy
  • Helps identify top risk issues within China reinsurance business and develop mitigation action plans
  • Monitors risk exposures for China reinsurance business including insurance, reserving, financial market, credit, funding and liquidity risks in order to highlight any actions that may be required to stay within the target capitalization and risk tolerance of the business. Coordinates and prepare regular reporting on the above.
  • Supports the reviews of the Business Risk Review teams where required.
  • Receives and reviews internal and external Audit / Operational Risk / Business Risk Review reports for the region in order to monitor the risk landscape, the appropriateness of the internal control environment and of actions proposed to address any weaknesses identified.
  • Collaborates with Actuarial Control to be aware of reserving issues, recommend solutions to monitor and track those.
  • Receiving insights from and providing input into the costing-reserving linkage process.
  • Provide training and technical support to management and employees regarding risk management strategies and programs

About the Team

Swiss Re Beijing is looking for an experienced risk professional joining our risk management team.

The role is to support the CRO China by providing oversight over all risk-taking activities for the Reinsurance businesses in China.

You will be responsible for implementation of China-specific risk standards in line with those of the Region and in compliance with local China Risk Oriented Solvency System (C-ROSS) requirements.

About You

  • 5+ years industry experiences
  • Significant P&C or L&H business expertise and market knowledge
  • Excellent spoken and written proficiency in English and Mandarin Chinese
  • Strong capabilities in team-working, communication, collaboration within cross-functions, and delivering results
  • Readiness and engagement for continuous development and learning
  • Creative mindset and innovative skills
  • Solid modeling and data analytical skills, Actuarial, statistical or risk backgrounds preferred
