Governments and other public sector entities become increasingly aware of the various risks they absorb as explicit or implicit risk takers. As a consequence, more and more public sector entities explore ways to manage these risks more efficiently by using risk transfer mechanisms. This provides Swiss Re with a substantial opportunity for expansion and business development with the public sector. This is an important element of Swiss Re's growth strategy.


About the Role

To assist us in reaching our ambitious targets, we are looking for a China based senior client manager who has exposure to these types of client and risk profiles, and ready for a new challenge. As an integral part of a global team of experts, you will work in close collaboration with colleagues across Swiss Re.


  • You will join PSS China team in the development and implementation of a business plan for China.
  • You will develop and maintain relationships with Swiss Re clients and other public entities/ institutions on behalf of the PSS team.
  • You will approach and interact with government institutions, think thanks, development banks and organizations, and NGOs to understand their respective operating contexts and in turn their risk financing needs in a holistic manner.
  • You will coordinate with Swiss Re experts of relevant subject matters to provide clients with tailor-made solutions.
  • You will support internal cross-functional deal teams to assist them in bringing transactions over the finishing line

About the team

Public Sector Solutions (PSS) aims at creating business opportunities with the public sector by systematically approaching governments on national and sub-national levels, NGOs and development banks in a coordinated way. We advise on reducing the contingent liabilities of governments through protecting public sector entities through introducing insurance schemes such as pools and through developing (micro-) insurance products. Main risks are related to agricultural production and natural catastrophes, but also to medical expenses and longevity.

About You

Experience and Skills

  • You are very client focused, persistent and know how to turn customer needs into transactions.
  • You have more than 8 years of experience in the insurance market and or capital market with the ambition to build and expand interfaces to governments, NGOs and development banks and organizations by leveraging your excellent network.
  • You already have a very good understanding of concept of aggregate exposure of natural perils, and or fiscal risks, and or capital market mechanism.
  • You feel comfortable with supporting the follow-up and transaction management with public sector stakeholders and our insurance partners after introductory meetings between senior Swiss Re and government executives.
  • You are skilled in prioritizing and running multiple projects in parallel.
  • You are an excellent team player, working closely with Swiss Re’s specialists for structuring / pricing and deal teams to successfully close transactions.
  • You have excellent communication and presentation skills and are ready for extensive travelling in domestically and internationally.
  • You have your roots in the region, understand the culture.
