About the Role

Position objectives and position summary

This is an enriching growth opportunity within the Reinsurance Business Unit. The successful candidate will be integral to the resilience and long-term success of managing Swiss Re's reinsurance business with Domestic Regional and National L&H Clients in China.

In this role, you will be responsible for and accountable for the P&L of the business for L&H R&N clients , including planning and budgeting and development of marketing plans.

Position includes travelling activities.

 

Main Tasks /Activities

As a strategic yet hands-on leader, your role is to ensure top quality execution of L&H R&N Initiatives: Expanding Swiss Re China's new L&H clients base and increase our footprints in China , Cement the business relationship with existing clients with diversified LoB

You will lead the cross functional teams to successfully originate profitable new business, ensure the ongoing profitability of our inforce portfolios on an ongoing basis. You will ensure the deployment of the right services to ensure the right financial outcomes and KPI's will be established to guide the financial performance of these relationships. 

You will engage in frequent dialogue with your client on strategic, financial and technical topics and build a long term relationship with them. You will have in-depth understanding of the client's needs and act as a reliable advisor.

You are also expected to coach, develop and lead your assigned client managers, as well as being a role model in the key account XFT.

Representation activities:

  • Develop and maintain relevant professional network, both internally and externally.
  • Contribution to and support for C-suite and top level meetings.

Interaction with other parties:

  • Client interlocutors on Senior Management level typically include
  • Reinsurance Managers, Risk Managers;
  • Chief Underwriting Officers / Senior Underwriters;
  • Chief Actuaries;
  • Strategy & Development / M&A;
  • The client team includes, but is not limited to, functions as follows
  • L&H Client Market communities
  • L&H Products
  • Business Management
  • Business service and Business Development
  • Capital Markets Experts for Insurance Linked Securities;
  • Legal, Accounting, Tax, Compliance.

About you

  • Education: A university degree or equivalent education/experience
  • 10+ years' experience in a complex international insurance / reinsurance business.
  • Outstanding understanding of market dynamics and trends, L&H re/insurance products and evolving client needs
  • L&H background is required with decent technical skillset
  • Proven track record of building productive and collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders on senior management level
  • Experience in managing large scale initiatives /projects in the reinsurance environment
  •  An engaging personality, a team builder and networker, who enjoys working in a multi-cultural team environment.
  • You have excellent communication and negotiations skills, with ability to handle conflicts and steer multiple parties ' interests into an aligned one.
  • Flexibility and adaptability is expected to thrive in our complex and changing international and cross cultural environment.
  • You are also eager to expand boundaries of existing business and transaction model while being guided by a strong sense of integrity in all that you do.
  • You enjoy leveraging your Client Leadership Team, enable and empower them to take decisions, coach and support where need be, and are simply a colleague with open ears & mind, helping them reach their full potential.
  • Language skills: Fluent in Mandarin and English
