About the Role

We are looking for a motivated, highly energetic and curious Team leader to support Swiss Re and its Magnum clients in China. This role involves pre-sales activities to implementation of Magnum (our Automated Underwriting Engine) with client companies in China, as well as include leading a team in Beijing of Experts in Underwriting Design, Technical Design, Data analytics and project management. You will join an engaging and energetic Magnum Asia team within the Life and Health Products Solutions unit working with our clients directly.

What are your future responsibilities?

  • Leading a team of experts
  • Prioritizing and managing work across the local team
  • Coaching the team members in their day to day work and their career
  • Collaborating with other functions (e.g. Product innovation, Underwriting, IT and Data Analytics) to further enhance our value proposition to our clients
  • Managing project risks and escalation as required
  • Liaising with the client through implementation/change request project phases
  • Engaging in Pre-Sales Work for China clients (RFI/RFP, Presentations, Demos)
  • Managing Pipeline in strong collaboration with the internal stakeholders such as client management
  • Pricing & Contracts through to signing
  • Supporting the Magnum regional head in overall planning, budgeting and also analyzing competitors and market needs
  • Working with the global Magnum team to maintain delivery framework, toolkit and to share best practice and learnings
     
    The role can also involve periods of on-site work in client offices within China. There might be a few travels required within Asia or to Europe.

 

About the team

  • Reporting to the Head of Magnum Asia
  • The Asia team is located in Singapore, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Beijing
  • The group is dedicated to deliver Magnum and associated Underwriting solutions
  • The team collaborates with internal partners across Asia as also globally

 

About you

  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship skills to create rapport and maintain strong relationships with the team and other important stakeholders
  • Passion for people development to be able to manage and coach team members
  • Proven leadership skills, with the ability to initiate & orchestrate cross-functional teamwork and ensure execution
  • Strong relevant direct insurance and/or reinsurance knowledge, preferable in Life and Health of at least 5 years
  • Ability to deal positively with ambiguity and conflict and drive consensus or decision
  • Drive & enthusiasm, with the ability to obtain buy-in from stakeholders, displaying 'can-do' attitude
  • Strong communicator with excellent facilitation skills to distill topics to essence per stakeholder group
  • Expertise (formal qualification and/or track record) in project management, change management and deployment of new technologies
  • Well-developed decision-making and problem solving capabilities
  • Self-directed learner, who prefers a hands on approach to acquiring skills
  • Ability to create structure in ambiguous spaces and manage client expectations
  • Show true teamwork, have a flexible and team-based approach and take personal accountability
  • A flexible approach to travel is required
  • Fluent in written and spoken English and Mandarin; Other languages will be an advantage
