About the Role

 

An exciting opportunity to become part of a growing, entrepreneurial, dynamic and results oriented business within the Swiss Re Group. The iptiQ businesses within Swiss Re operate on a B2B2C basis and was established to provide protection solutions to consumers through partner arrangements. Our mission is to reduce the protection gap working with trusted partners using innovative and digital sales processes.

 

This is a strategic and leadership role and you will be part of a highly motivated team in a high growth and multifaceted business. Reporting directly to the Head of Compliance, Swiss Re Life Capital your main responsibilities will be:

 

  • To be a trusted, strategic second Line of Defense partner to the iptiQ Americas Life and Health (Individual business) team focusing on developing Compliance culture and providing leadership for the compliance team within the business
  • Collaborating with senior management to provide timely, value add, pragmatic, high quality compliance advice across the primary insurance value chain
  • Using your expertise, you will support the development of compliant products and distribution propositions by closely partnering with business functions
  • To build, implement and oversee a commercial and pragmatic product filing strategy for the local compliance team.
  • Supporting delivery of the Swiss Re Compliance strategy by inputting to the development of Annual Compliance Plans within the business and input to the Swiss Re Group Annual Compliance Plan
  • To develop and ensure appropriate implementation of a robust risk-based Compliance Programme for the business taking business model specific requirements into account, including maintenance of Compliance Risk frameworks in coordination with Swiss Re Group Compliance
  • Supporting Division Legal and Compliance key initiatives and advancing specific priorities relevant to the iptiQ business
  • Providing regular compliance risk reporting to the iptiQ board of directors, the iptiQ senior management team and input to Swiss Re Group Compliance reports
  • Providing relevant reporting to regulatory/competent authorities as appropriate
  • Engaging and collaborating with other expert functions including Legal and Risk Management to ensure the provision of consistent advice
  • Providing guidance on oversight of distributors and outsourced service providers as part of the oversight framework and conducting specific compliance oversight as required

 

About the Team

 

iptiQ Americas was established in 2016 with the aim of providing innovative protection solutions sold direct to consumers through Distribution Partners. The purpose of this role is to provide support, direction and leadership across the Compliance team and to support the business by providing value add advice to the Executive Team particularly on strategic matters and proposed business transactions.

 

About You

 

  • Compliance professional with significant experience in market conduct and new product filing and operating in a senior role in the US primary Life and Health market
  • Experience working on partner distribution models and digital transformation.
  • US Property and Casualty primary business experience would be helpful
  • Ability  to work in a fluid, fast paced environment
  • Solid understanding of the US regulatory environment and critical issues the industry is facing
  • Proven experience working with carriers that engage in a fully digital environment
  • Established ability to design and drive creative solutions and product filing strategies
  • Experience of interfacing with Regulators to accelerate the product approval process
  • Experience in preparing and presenting reports to senior management meetings
  • Sound judgement and decision making skills
  • Strong communication skills with a proven ability to influence and work in cross functional teams
  • Ability to take the initiative and take accountability in an entrepreneurial environment whilst maintaining appropriate balance between "enabling" and "assurance"
  • Experience developing a team
  • Fluent English speaker
  • Professional qualifications in Law or Risk management subjects (Compliance, Audit, Risk) are preferred
  • Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally
