About the role


The Vice President, Pricing Actuary role is a key position within the iptiQ Americas pricing organization.  This role will be responsible for managing and executing the pricing, modeling, and filing of new health products for the iptiQ Americas operation, leading the in-force products rate management, and engaging in assignments during the product development cycles.  Responsibilities include:


  • Pricing competitive and client centric health insurance protection products that meet the strategic and profitability targets of iptiQ Americas
  • Managing rate management for the health product portfolio by developing and executing on strategy to maximize economic value and profitability
  • Developing and documenting pricing models used to analyze product profitability on a US Statutory, US GAAP, and Economic basis
  • Developing, documenting, and defending pricing assumptions, as well as pricing results for approval to the iptiQ management team
  • Building and maintaining product performance metrics and management reports to facilitate data driven decisions
  • Supporting strategic planning and business development by offering pricing and profitability guidance
  • Contributing to the Product Development Process by providing pricing and market insights, impacts to product features and risks, and supporting regulatory filings


About the team


The iptiQ Americas Pricing team is involved with all aspects of the pricing and product development process and collaborates with other areas of iptiQ and across Swiss Re to support the coordination, infrastructure and competences that are key to driving forward the business. 


As a Pricing Actuary with iptiQ Americas, you would have a unique and exciting opportunity to join the team in charge of running a US insurance business unit within a global company. You will be part of a diverse and highly driven team committed to delivering value-added solutions to a wide range of clients and providing life and health insurance to as many consumers as possible.


About You


  • Minimum four year degree in mathematics, statistics, actuarial science or related field with proven mathematical skills and analytical ability
  • Over 5 years of experience in the US individual health insurance pricing; experience with Medicare Supplement or supplemental health products is strongly preferred
  • Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (or near FSA)
  • Strong modeling capabilities using actuarial modeling tools and Microsoft EXCEL; pricing experience using MG-ALFA is a plus
  • Ability to develop product cash flows and profitability metrics under statutory, US GAAP, and economic basis
  • Experience developing protection products, assumptions, and pricing models
  • Capability to work independently and deliver project results with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work across cross-functional teams
  • Experience in product filing of health insurance products
  • Attention to details with strong sense of documentation and corporate governance
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including a demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and the ability to influence others.  Must be able to develop working relationships to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to review analytical results, derive recommendations and present implications to all stakeholders.
  • Ability to communicate and present effectively, clearly and transparently to a variety of audiences.
  • Open minded, trustworthy and enthusiastic
