About the Role


After a few successful years ramping up your database and SQL skills, do you feel ready for your next carrier step in our agile setting at the forefront of our cloud data warehouses?    


We are looking for an engaging, curious, and reliable colleague to join our team. Here at Swiss Re we take care of the Service Operations for data-centric applications like Data Analytics Systems, Data Warehouses and Master Data Management. We are a dynamic and engaging team, and we need you to help us covering our presence in the Americas time zone (16-24h CET). There's not one day like any other. You will supervise and coordinate received cloud services, ensuring information quality, accuracy, and in-time availability. Manage and resolve technical service deviations and coordinate availability with all business partners involved. This Job requires you to improve and automate, striving for efficiency. Join us and be the DevOps partner for our agile developers and squads, coordinating and managing release deployments.


Your Main Activities

1. Delivery of operations services:

  • Manage availability of our high-class data services, ensuring business satisfaction.
  • Analyse and resolve service deviations in SQL environment (Oracle and Azure) and within our tooling.
  • Act as DevOps partner influencing development to improve functionality
  • Building the operations monitoring and reporting using tools like Palantier or Power Tools
  • Lead the change pipeline upgrading services, following and supporting agile principles
  • Handle all upcoming issues with an understanding of dependencies, information content and customers' needs


2. Endorsing continuous improvements:

  • On-boarding new cloud-provided services to offload work from data warehouse project team
  • Strive for service automation where possible
  • Feedback issued to the agile development
  • Educate the team about the changes and handover service operations
  • Communication of relevant information to partners
  • Supply testing activities from an engineering point of view

About You


We expect from you:

  • Consistent track record of delivering results and impact, constantly looking for opportunities to innovate and get things done better 
  • Basic relational database background, experiences with SQL scripting
  • Ability to develop SQL queries, work on performance issues using SQL queries and Databases
  • Sound knowledge in DevOps and servicing of data warehouses
  • University degree in IT or equivalent and at least 2 years of practice in a comparable environment
  • Fluency in English, written and spoken
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated, well organized and efficient work mode, ability to set adequate priorities
  • Quality and solution orientation, persistence and a creative and curious mind


Minimum base salary for this job is from 1200 EUR gross/month/full time. Our offer to you may be higher based on your skills and experience and will include additional rewards and benefits. *
