Software Engineer (Predictive Modelling Solutions)

About the Role and Team


The Digital and Smart Analytics (DSA) service unit supports Swiss Re's business functions in generating insights from structured and unstructured data. Being a sub-team of DSA, we, the Predictive Modelling Solutions team, develop software solutions in the area of data analytics and large-scale data processing. We combine state-of-the-art software engineering and data science to build analytics software products and platforms. Cloud solution architecture, agile project management and DevOps are equally important to us as are machine learning, text mining and artificial intelligence.


The Opportunity:

To extend our team we are seeking a motivated Software Engineer. In your role you will take ownership for the delivery of analytics solutions to productive environments, while working in tight cooperation with internal colleagues in different countries as well as clients. You help us maintain and continually improve our established analytics solutions and platforms.


Key Tasks:

  • Taking the technical lead role in small software development project teams
  • Interact with company internal clients to define software requirements
  • Design and implement end-to-end software solutions in collaboration with other software engineers and data scientists
  • Ensure compliance with technical and non-technical Swiss Re standards and regulations
  • Maintain existing solutions and proactively come up with potential improvements
  • Ensure timely customer communication and coordination of follow-up activities
  • Build up sustainable, long-term relationships with key business and IT stakeholders in order to become a trusted partner in the field of data analytics


About You



  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, software applications or related field
  • Experience with software solution design and architecture in an enterprise environment; prior experience with cloud architecture is a plus
  • Deep Java (or C#), OOP/OOD & FP, UML skills; additionally knowing Python or R is a plus
  • A strong dedication towards agile principles (e.g. Scrum) and DevOps
  • Proficient in verbal and written English

Minimum base salary for this job is from 1700 EUR gross/month/full time. Our offer to you may be higher based on your skills and experience and will include additional rewards and benefits.We are required by law to disclose basic wage component (minimum salary) for the advertised positions.
