About The Role

The primary responsibility of this role will be to lead the L&H Transactions origination across the US region, covering both remote risk and full risk inforce deals  This includes developing and driving the execution of the strategic plan by being on the front line in originating structured life and health solutions for clients, engaging with the cross functional teams in the various local markets, and assisting the internal process (including helping to manage internal senior stakeholders through the transaction approval process).

Key role and responsibilities:

  • Developing and driving the strategy and thought leadership for transactions in the US market
  • Driving origination of L&H transactions (using both traditional and structured reinsurance solutions and may include capital markets instruments as well)
  • Fostering a cross-functional team spirit of innovation, entrepreneurial spirit and execution capability, in order to meet growing business plans
  • In close collaboration with Client Markets and Business Development, initiate and maintain client contact to identify client needs and develop bespoke solutions
  • To be a key client contact point to various Group and Regional C-Suites and expected to develop strong relationships over time.  This includes the CFO, Appointed Actuary and CRO, as well as Treasurers and Capital Managers
  • Initiating and maintaining relationships with alternative channels such as Investment Banks, Brokers, Consultancies, Asset Managers, Ratings Agencies etc in the region
  • Providing representation at external industry events and conferences
  • Monitoring and adapting to the competitive environment
  • Regularly reporting on business conditions and performance at the relevant committees and engaging with senior stakeholders in transaction approval processes


About the Team

The role sits within the L&H Structured Solutions team, working closely with Client Markets and Business Development

You will work closely with rest of the L&H Structured Solutions team, which is part of L&H Products, and has several core functions:

  • Provide structured reinsurance & capital management solutions to L&H clients
  • Assuming life insurance risk in non-traditional formats
  • Offering a suite of both full risk and remote risk solutions


About You

  • Familiar with capital management concepts, particularly its application to US life insurers and their KPIs
  • Well-developed client focused skills, adept at uncovering and articulating client needs with experience in fostering innovative solutions, along with effective presentation skills
  • A polished communicator and able to present complex information both to technical and non-technical audiences confidently, simply and concisely
  • Strong knowledge in both the concepts underlying insurance product design, as well as a broader understanding of the industry drivers
  • In-depth knowledge of US statutory framework, US GAAP, other solvency regimes, regulatory and ratings agencies environment
  • Experienced Corporate Finance professional, in either actuarial,  capital or asset management and/or financial modelling
  • Balance of both technical skills & commercial acumen, with the ability to step back to view “the big picture” and think creatively around solutions/challenges. 
  • Collaborative approach and strong team spirit
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • The ability to influence others in an environment of scarce resources and competing priorities
