If yes, then Business Development (BD) is looking for a highly motivated talent like you to join the Hong Kong team.

 

This exciting opportunity sits within the Reinsurance Business Unit and focuses on supporting BD Market Heads across Asia to originate profitable reinsurance business .

 

In order to do this, you will need to maintain a relentless focus on understanding client needs today and tomorrow, develop corresponding client solutions, and drive innovation. Your line manager and BD colleagues across the globe will support your professional and personal development as you seek to gain in depth knowledge of innovative reinsurance solutions. To transform this origination work into business growth, you will work collaboratively with various functions across Swiss Re, including Client Markets and structuring units.

 

The opportunity

 

  • Analyse and synthesise financial and publicly available data (e.g. financial statements, research reports, etc)
  • Deliver in-depth insights into client strategy & financial condition utilizing available data as well as insights garnered from internal stakeholders
  • Produce high quality, replicable analytics & client presentation materials (including, but not limited to, visually attractive and compelling pitch books) of a standard comparable to leading investment banks or management consultants
  • Identify new market needs in order to generate meaningful business opportunities and push these new business ideas ahead several steps within BD and in a deal team
  • Support the origination efforts for large transactions and capital solutions
  • Build financial models for individual clients, projecting financial statements to assess the impact of our solutions for the clients
  • The role will work with BD Market Heads across all markets in Asia, including China, Japan, Australia, Hong Kong, India and SEA, across both P&C and L&H. Therefore additional language skills are an advantage.

 

About the Team

 

  • In BD, we identify new business opportunities and work on strategic reinsurance topics together with our clients. We develop business cases for reinsurance transactions, quantify reinsurance benefits with the help of financial or stochastic models, and support strategic client planning and marketing.
  • People in BD have a background in actuarial, science, finance or economics. We work closely together with client managers, structurers, underwriters and other functions. We are a global function and collaborate frequently across locations and regions.

About You

 

Technical skills

  • Bachelor, Master degree or equivalent in actuarial, economics or finance: financial background preferred and advantage if experience in Corporate Finance, Equity Analysis, Rating Analysis, Reinsurance, and/or Insurance
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills
  • Fluent command of English, plus one additional language (including either Cantonese, Mandarin, Bahasa, Japanese or other relevant languages)
  • Proficient Excel, PowerPoint and good computer aptitude
  • Strong knowledge and interest in the areas of corporate finance, accounting as well as company valuation drivers
  • Knowledge in life (re)insurance/commercial background/banking (insurance) in areas of actuarial, product structuring, reinsurance an advantage
