About the role


This is an exciting and remarkable opportunity for assurance professional to provide consultative assurance activities for Swiss Re's compliance frameworks. This role is primarily for iptiQ, a division that provides digital, bespoke and transparent L&H and P&C protection products in a B2B2C manner. It will play an important part in helping to foster an environment of strong ethical behavior and a good internal control environment.to further enable iptiQ achieving its strategic ambitions and strengthen its ability to manage compliance risks, which ultimately generate values for stakeholders.


This role sits within the Compliance function and reports into the Head Compliance Assurance. As part of the second line of defence, you will be a key member of Compliance Assurance that performs review of Swiss Re's compliance frameworks. You will also establish collaborative relationships with other teams within Compliance, in addition to iptiQ stakeholders.


The role requires:

  • Leading and executing compliance testings and reviews
  • Identifying, analyzing and assessing the compliance risks
  • Identifying and evaluating the effectiveness of controls designed to address those risks, assessing the impact of control deficiencies, recommend mitigating actions to management
  • Evaluating timely resolution and effective remedial actions to address identified issues;
  • Reporting identified issues to senior management
  • Assisting in internal and/or external reporting such as Compliance quarterly and annual reporting etc.
  • Provide cover for other roles in the team as when necessary
  • Any other ad hoc tasks, projects as required from time to time
  • Occasional travel to other Swiss Re offices


About the Team


The Compliance Assurance is a global team with team members in Hong Kong, Luxembourg, Switzerland, the UK and the US. The team is responsible for the monitoring of Compliance Risks across the whole of the Swiss Re Group. Primary liaison with Group Internal Audit (GIA), Operational Risk Management (ORM) and other governance functions and assist in coordination among risk and control functions and Compliance units in relation to Compliance Assurance activities.


About You


  • University degree in the field of finance, law or other business disciplines with audit related certification (such as CIA, CA/CPA)
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of shown experience in compliance advisory, compliance testing or other risk control functions in the financial services industry, preferably in insurance industry
  • Strong experience and application of conduct risk in relation to customer outcomes and data protection
  • Deep understanding of testing/ audit methodologies and techniques, risk management concepts
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking, communication, and report writing skills in English, Cantonese and Mandarin
  • A good team player with excellent people, co-ordination, and relationship management skills and able to engage and work effectively with colleagues across regions and functional units
  • Self-motivated, independent, demonstrate commitment to continuous learning, take initiative and be proactive to develop and improve 
  • Ability to lead, possess effective time management skills, demonstrate commitment to quality and timely completion of deliverables
  • Strong negotiation, influencing and active listening skills
  • Exhibit business sense and commercial awareness, see the "big picture" as well as the details
  • Solution oriented, a good sense for feasibility and pragmatism
  • Flexible and adaptable to highly dynamic, fast-paced work processes and environment
  • Possess a strong work ethic and be able to remain objective at all times
  • Willing to work 'virtually' and travel to other Swiss Re offices occasionally
