About the Role
We're looking for a highly motivated and result oriented underwriter to join Global Engineering North Asia team with working location in Hong Kong. Key focuses of this role are 1. to develop engineering facultative and treaty reinsurance businesses in Hong Kong and Taiwan markets and 2. to support other North Asia markets. 



  • Grow profitably facultative and treaty engineering portfolio, while providing high quality underwriting services and solutions to reinsurance clients.  
  • Conduct post underwriting activities such as risk survey, portfolio reserve setting, treaty / fac accounts servicing and claims supports 
  • Strengthen Swiss Re leading position in Greater China engineering reinsurance markets based on company strategy. i.e. marketing activities, client underwriting training, risk survey, etc. 
  • Work together with cross functional team to strengthen partnerships with reinsurance clients to achieve win-win solution.
  • Play an active role in the Swiss Re Global Engineering community in terms of knowledge sharing, special projects and / or research topics. 
  • Properly maintain underwriting documentation, ensure good data quality in underwriting system and follow up post bound activities such as premium payment, claim data, filing.


About You

  • University Degree in civil engineering discipline
  • Working experience in Taiwan construction projects or knowledge in Taiwan building code / technical regulation is an advantage. 
  • Minimum 3 years working experience in Engineering underwriting or claims handling. 
  • Strong business mindset and good at translating technical expertise into business solution fitting clients' needs.
  • A strong team player with good interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with internal and external people.
  • Comfortable to work in a fast-paced and multi-cultural environment and to adapt to change
  • Client focused (understand needs and act on them), Creative thinking capability and a problem-solving mindset
  • Language: Proficiency in English and Chinese including Mandarin speaking
