About the Role


This is an appealing opportunity for a candidate looking for new challenges, where you will play a key role in contributing to the future development and success of the branch operations of Asia Reinsurance business. 

This newly created role has the key focus to drive changes for governance reporting and operational excellence initiatives within the S&O Branch Operations team.   These changes will lead to more robust processes in supporting the branch governance, in particularly
•    to support the senior management (AEC, AOR) and SRAL Board in discharging the oversight of operating platform 
•    to strengthen the operating platform and improve consistency across branches.


You will become a member of a small regional Branch Operations Team, where you will work closely also with the local Branch Operations Managers and Heads, to drive delivery of such governance reports and initiatives.  This exciting role will require a professional with experience in governance reporting, Operations and Branch/legal entity management.  The ideal candidate shall have experience in change (and project) management. 


Main Responsbiities:


The key components of the role are:
1.    Take ownership to drive the process and content preparation for the various annual and ad hoc reports (e.g. Branch Review, Outsourcing) for strengthen the SRAL Governance Reporting, supporting the branch.


  • You will drive the content preparation and process, with the strong collaboration from the local Branch Operations Managers / Heads.  
  • Liaison point with the SRAL Corporate Secretariat team, Head of CEO office, and coordinate within Branch Ops / S&O, to ensure the timely delivery of the various layers of governance reporting.
  • Ensure content of the governance report is appropriate quality to the senior management i.e. with the right depth and strategic forward looking, and yet is supported by sufficient detailed analysis and meet with the latest governance requirements and SR guideline into process & controls.

2.    Act as the change agent to drive Operational Excellence initiatives for the APAC Region.   This will include opportunity to work with other Business Units (CorSo, ipitQ) to ensure alignment of operating platform and identify synergy.  Below are some example (not exhaustive):
•    Run the APAC Outsourcing Roundtable, which is a joint BU committee in overseeing the delivery of supporting the senior management 

•    Drive the Program for institutionalizing Outsourcing Management of APAC region, your will run the External (third party providers) governance part.

•    This will include the implementation of regional "best practices" consistently; and where exception is observed for specific branch(es), there shall be proper validation and documentation.  

•    Work closely with the local Branch Ops. Head, to implement/follow up on Operational Excellence priorities, mainly relating to legal entity management and branch operating platform (i.e. enabling functions would also be key stakeholders), and ensure a coordinated approach across Branches

3.    Execute ad hoc Operational Excellence projects / tasks across Asia, supporting the Head of Regional Branch Operations Asia, in relation to operational or strategy implementation priorities

About You

•    Relevant knowledge and experience in the areas of Operational governance and reporting,  Operational Excellence project,  and Legal entity management
•    High level knowledge and expertise of the insurance and reinsurance industry and the legal and economic/ social environment in which it operates 
•    Prefer within knowledge of Swiss Re organization
•    Demonstrated leadership capability in complex matrix organization, able to leverage relationships and apply leadership 'authority' in a wider sense, not limited to direct reporting lines
•    Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills, able to influence and negotiate effectively with across functions/seniority levels
•    Analytical and out of box thinking to drive the best solutions to fit circumstances
•    Agile with a "can-do" attitude
•    Strong skill of managing expectations and deadlines in face of complexity, conflicting pressure and ambiguous circumstances
•    Good level of financial acumen
•    Relevant industry qualification and/or business degree
