Position summary:

Primarily responsible for the accounting, reporting, and control activities relating to multiple carriers and projects within the Americas region for a multi-location team. The candidate will interact with internal stakeholders (e.g. Group External Reporting, Asset Management, Legal, Compliance, Front Office, etc.), Executive Management, and local audit presence.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Independently coordinate and review legal entity functions done in multi-location setting for all bases of Accounting & Reporting – US GAAP, Statutory and Economic Value Management (EVM)
  • Critically assess and examine the current Accounting & Reporting deliverables and controls and drive implementation of improvements in the effectiveness and efficiency of processes
  • Drive initiatives and contribute to the various stages of assigned strategic projects (e.g. IFRS implementation) while ensuring global alignment of all internal processes
  • Review and help coordinate the assigned operations of 3rd party outsourcing provider for investment accounting reconciliations and ledger activities comprised mainly of derivative and bond investment products
  • Assist Team Leaders in reviewing financial performance, analyzing broker-dealer regulatory filings, preparing financial statements and fluctuation analysis for one or more legal entities
  • Prepare quarterly financial statements and qualitative reporting for the legal entity CFO
  • Work with Group Functions (including Asset Management, Tax, Risk, Treasury, Group Finance) to enable high collaboration and delivery of reporting that meets the needs of all stakeholders
  • Willingness to challenge status quo processes and desire to implement operational improvements
  • Assumption of additional projected-related responsibilities as well as ad-hoc requests from internal clients
  • Anticipate issues and develop appropriate and timely solutions
  • Develop a solid understanding of data flow, system landscapes and system interactions impacting accounting transactions under relevant valuations and provide insight that helps to ensure a smooth flow of information through the accounting & reporting life cycle
  • Understand and follow the existing control framework to meet all internal and external audit requirements

Desired Qualifications:

  • College graduate with BS in Business 
  • Experience in financial services industry or equivalent Accounting/Financial Reporting environment with general understanding of US GAAP reporting
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team to effectively manage priorities and meet aggressive deadlines
  • Public accounting and IFRS experience preferred
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Dependable colleague with a customer-service focus and personal accountability
  • Global perspective and project- oriented mindset

  • Detail-oriented
  • Strong background in various types of financial instruments, including derivative products

  • Strong computer/office tool skills, especially Microsoft Excel and preferred experience with data analytic tools like Power BI/Power Query
