Job Purpose:

Swiss Re Reinsurance is implementing a new systems and process environment to support the financial closing for all business units through the Olympus Programme. The Investments Product Area is driving the development and implementation of the new end-to-end processes and systems for integrated economic and traditional financial reporting, from source to sub-ledger and general ledger, using the innovative 'baseline delta' approach.  The SAP product, FPSL, which was co-developed with SAP is the key component in the architecture.  The current phase of the project is focusing on implementation and rolling out IFRS for Local jurisdictions.  This will be followed by the implementation of Group IFRS for all Swiss Re legal entities. To facilitate the implementation, an Agile approach is being utilized with multiple sprint teams. 


The Senior Investment Accounting - Business Analyst role will be a member of the Investment sprint team with the following responsibilities:


  • Perform business analysis of as-is and to-be subledger requirements focused on investment accounting
  • Perform analysis and documentation of FPSL subledger accounting configuration
  • Write technical specifications of required integration logic from source systems, staging area and accounting configuration
  • Effectively communicate requirements to application developers for both integration and accounting
  • Execute functional testing of requirements to ensure proper implementation
  • Perform root cause analysis on identified defects and resolve timely
  • Support documentation for user training and sign-off purposes


Key Accountabilities:

  • Ensure accounting standards and consistency across the sprint teams
  • Become trusted expert on investment requirements and execution within the sprint teams
  • Keep Product Owners informed of progress; escalate issues as needed


Key Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting preferred or equivelent experience 
  • Strong understanding of investment products including financial accounting and reporting processes
  • Minimum of five years equivalent investment accounting or business analysis 
  • Previous investment reporting and reconciliation project work preferred
  • Experience with databases and querying languages
  • Experience with SAP BW, S/4HANA  or SAP FPSL preferred
  • SAP Certifications or designations is a nice to have
  • Experience working with agile concepts and methodologies
  • Able to prioritize and drive deliverables to completion
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to network and understand the workings of the project
  • Willingness to work on week ends and evenings during key go-live phases
