About the Role

 

This role is responsible for driving unit performance and proactively identifies trends in assigned  portfolios, steering performance and contributes to the XFT.   The Senior Technical Accountant is also the driver of standard operating procedure, guidelines, key controls and change management initiatives.

 

Position summary:

• Create high-level solutions to increase full automation of eAdmin processes

•Initiate discussions with Business Services, Underwriting and Global Business Experts for correct process mapping
• Demonstrated understanding of external stakeholder data and internal structure
Perform and/or oversee work by peers for clients/accounts and/or processes assigned, driving performance in reinsurance portfolio. Authorize and/or escalate financial transactions and/or payments as per authority matrix. Escalate issues to management and/or senior management as per business judgment. Drive positive relationships with internal/external clients. Perform TA operational duties as needed/required while demonstrating advanced understanding of our processes and procedures. Ensure accuracy and integrity of the technical accounting data in the systems while being able to handle and/or oversee set of clients/portfolios. Understand downstream implications to Finance, Actuarial, Underwriting and Client Markets. Look for opportunities within core process to create value (qualitative or quantitative) for Swiss Re and external clients.

 

Essential Responsibilities:


• Manage external client relationships, for the accounts under responsibility
• Manage internal client relationships, for select accounts
• Understanding client’s external/internal portfolio mix i.e., ToB/LoB, (Type of Business / Line of Business), Volume (# / $).
• Understand internal and external client feedback tools/instruments (i.e. NPS and ICS surveys) analyze results and initiate actions to improve and/or maintain results as needed
• Oversee, monitor, analyze and, if needed, decide, initiate, lead corrective/preventive actions to meet/exceed internal client financial and operational TA service standards as defined in Service Agreements
• Oversee, monitor, analyze and, if needed, decide, initiate, lead corrective/preventive actions to achieve Unit’s Operational and Financial targets defined as KPI’s (Key Performance Indicators)
• Oversee, monitor, analyze and, if needed, decide, initiate, lead corrective/preventive actions to make sure Quality and Process standards are met as defined in TA Quality Management framework (QMS, AMRAF, Peer Reviews, Booking accuracy and other DQ and/or process indicators/reports)
• Oversee, monitor and assure compliance of Key Controls, as well as providing comprehensive analysis and business/management comments with proper back up in our Operational Risk Control tool (OETool) and, if needed, initiate and lead corrective actions
• Oversee our processing units/centers, resolve account and payment discrepancies with the clients
• Perform accurate and timely 1st or 2nd level sign off, handle queries from our processing units / centers and/or authorize escalated financial transactions/payments assuring adherence to process, guidelines, quality management framework and key controls
• Escalate as appropriate issues to management and/or senior management
• Collaborate in the unit planning and target/goal setting as well as setting of own targets
• Coordinating and preparing of monthly/quarterly performance measurement (i.e. KPI’s) statistics, reviews/analysis and/or internal client financial and operational reviews/analysis
• Perform TA operational duties (accounting/booking transactions and/or billing, collection, cash allocation) as needed/required
• Participation and/lead projects and/or special tasks (i.e. Power User network, Peer Reviews, UAT’s, Mini-Projects, etc.). Volunteer if opportunity exists
• Ensuring timely and accurate reporting and compliance with internal / external requirements / commitments
• Identify possible training/development requirements, if requested provide training and assistance to other team members and/or our processing units/centers
• Take initiative to analyze procedural methodologies and/or guidelines and suggest ways to improve efficiency
• Manage own workload effectively to achieve agreed service/business standards
• Understanding of reinsurance contracts and concepts for analyzing accuracy of ceding company reports in alignment with validation framework
• Ability to understand the more complex reinsurance agreements and Service Agreements
• Identify root cause and failure analysis of workflow

P&C Business Management Operations Americas is a culturally and geographically diverse Team, in North and Latin America, handling the Technical Accounting and Claims Operations processes for P&C Reinsurance. • Four year college degree in accounting or business related field or equivalent experience
• Insurance or Reinsurance accounting experience required
