About the Team:

In this position, you are part of a team supporting the various systems used by the global Credit & Surety business unit within CorSo.  Initially, your focus will be the North America Surety group, consistently providing superior customer service to our underwriting and operations business partners.  We respond to issues and requests for system functionality changes and continue to find ways to deliver operational efficiencies.  To ensure consistent customer focus, strong relationships have been built with our business partners and vendors.  The Requirements Engineer serves as a principal conduit between the business and the various development teams throughout the lifecycle of an issue or change request.

 

In this position, you are responsible for supporting the Product Owner in defining user stories and detailing out requirements with business support, for their use in their bond underwriting and administration system.  In supporting the business, you will be responsible for collaborating with the business team members, other internal IT team members, and vendor team members.

 

About The Role:

  • Gather and understand requirements; work with clients, users, business/product owners and SMEs to understand their requests and be able to translate them into user stories; authoring additional requirements and project documentation as needed
  • Understand the overall system landscape from an end-to-end perspective; work with developers to help define integrations and find better solutions for the users
  • Support major system initiatives, ensuring an adequate test plan is executed.  Coordinate the production release with our vendor partners, and handle required notifications
  • Ensure that system changes are in line with business requirements by creating test plans & expected results.  Coordinate with the testing team to review test results
  • Provide support to end users when they identify issues – attempt to resolve issues or ensure they are reported/logged for the developers to handle.  Define the correct priority and document workarounds as needed
  • Review and update knowledge-based articles used for production support
  • Support/coordinate testing of infrastructure changes
  • Support the larger teams' need for continuous improvement of processes, designs, and operational efficiencies

 

The position location is flexible to Kansas City, Chicago, Armonk, Fort Wayne, Windsor, or potentially other CorSo offices in the US.

 

About You:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent preferred
  • Strong understanding of systems analysis and design fundamentals
  • Familiarity with software development life cycle and Agile concepts
  • Experience with Agile methodology, writing user stories, open collaboration, etc.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with proven ability working in globally located team situations
  • Ability to build professional relationships and cultivate networks throughout a corporate organization
  • Sound decision-making skills and ability to take ownership of initiatives with minimal supervision; demonstrate personal accountability for area of responsibility
  • Ability to align priorities of own area within the directives and priorities of the broader group
  • Flexibility to deal with rapid changes in tasks or priorities
  • Demonstrate a willingness to adapt, take risks, and try new things – even at the risk of failure
  • Decent understanding of Commercial Insurance.  Surety knowledge is a bonus, but not required
  • Solid understanding of data models, database relationships with ability to understand SQL.  Conduct data analysis and provide conclusions
