About the Role


As Senior Actuary P&C you will be giving actuarial advice to property and casualty facultative underwriters with special focus on US motor fleet business. You will be involved in rate reviews and bring in your actuarial expertise into parameter studies and methods reviews.


Your main tasks are:

  • Provide actuarial advice to US facultative underwriters
  • Be part of the US casualty content scrum team working out costing models and parameters like rates, ILFs and trend factors
  • Monitor accuracy of rating models on a portfolio level and prioritize required updates
  • Create and maintain dashboards and reports to gain for actuarial and data insights
  • Give actuarial and structuring advise for complicated facultative deals
  • Assist underwriters in tool questions related to US business and bring in the needs of the community into our tool development efforts


This role can be located in Alpharetta, Armonk, Kansas City, Schaumburg or Toronto.  Additionally, this position can be filled at 80% to 100% capacity.


About the Team


The actuarial services P&C team is part of the P&C center. We are responsible for 3 areas:

  • We develop the methods and tools used to price the single risk property and casualty business
  • We make sure the underwriters have good parameters to price their business. We lead rate reviews for property and casualty business on industry level and review rate reviews performed by other units
  • We are the go-to team for actuarial advice and perform the risk assessment for complicated deals or sensitive lines of business such as Medical Malpractice.


About You


  • You have a deep understanding of the facultative property and casualty business with focus on the US market
  • You are fully fluent in applying US and European actuarial technics including curve fitting as well as diverse development and blending methods.
  • Ability to explain actuarial technics in simple words and train costing tools and methods to underwriters
  • Skilled in statistical software and packages like R, Python, Power BI etc.
  • Strong Commercial mindset
  • Courage to take actuarial decisions and defend them even in the absence of data
  • Project management know-how
  • Strong team player in a multicultural team spread across geographies
  • Ability to work in an agile environment
