Senior Technical Accountant - Hybrid Work Model

About the Role

The Technical Accounting (TA) unit is looking for a results-oriented individual who will make an immediate impact in Swiss Re's Corso unit. We are looking for an experienced premium accounting professional who understands how to resolve open receivables or payment discrepancies. Ideal candidate will have interest and or experience in leadership opportunities. This position not only supports the reconciliation and collection of open receivables but supports the business needs of underwriters and outside producers. Tasks include working with underwriters and producers to resolve premium and commission discrepancies, including premiums not remitted.

 

About the Team

  • Reconcile cash receipts to premium and commission bookings
  • Understand booking differences and efficiently communicate issues to underwriting or the producer
  • Proactively and professionally follow up on overdue premium payments
  • Complete monthly metrics and operational reviews/analysis for performance of assigned units of responsibility
  • Handling selected internal client relationships, for assigned accounts.
  • Assist in developing technical accounting processes for new business initiatives
  • Initiate review of routine processes for opportunities to increase efficiency and accuracy
  • Assist and support external auditor data requests
  • Collaborate closely with Finance for cash handling reporting
  • Expand role responsibility to perform general ledger account reconciliations

About You

  • Accounting Degree with three or more years of relevant work experience preferred
  • Insurance industry experience, premium receivable handling preferred
  • Experience in cash application, discrepancy resolution, or both
  • Ability to work as a team player
  • Willingness to learn different aspects of North America TA unit
  • Capability to recognize a problem, develop and implement a solution and update processes to minimize future occurrences
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize competing customer requests, adapting to changes implementing accordingly
  • Customer Service focused with the ability to interact with customers to resolve questions quickly and satisfactorily
  • Consistent track record of being a self starter and working with limited guidance, ability to manage own workload effectively.
  • Results oriented working style, with strong focus on performance, targets and risk management.
  • Strong Analytical skills (Flair for figures).
  • Proficient in Excel
