About the Role

Provides high quality underwriting, portfolio and client management - as a "one stop shop" for core business for P&C Lines of Business. Identifies opportunities for solutions and transactions.

 

1. Responsibility to develop and champion client relations across the range of management levels (incl. C-suite interaction)

2. Identifies opportunities in client portfolio to grow core business and develop transactions and solutions in conjunction with relevant specialists.

3. Has the UW skills to perform end-to-end UW analyses for core business including costing, contracts, basic structuring

4. Evaluates and assesses treaties in accordance with company guidelines and standards, makes underwriting decisions within respective authority level for assigned treaties and writes referrals for his/her clients.

5. Helps to maintain and further develop a sustainable portfolio. Enforces a portfolio steering culture by contributing to efficiently write profitable business.

6. Negotiation, sales, deployment of services within the principles of "right service right client". Strive for differentiation.

7. Builds, maintains and further develops a strong internal and external network, in particular sustainable relationships with clients/brokers, with Takaful associations. Contribute and attends conferences/market events.

8. Builds primary market intelligence (trends in buying behaviours and competitors undertakings)

9. Anticipates and analyses future industry/economic/legal trends

10. Responsible for know-how transfer, regularly coaches and trains less experienced staff.

11. Supports other teams within Swiss Re in respect of Retakaful matters, cooperates with the Shariah team and Shariah Committee of Swiss Re Retakaful.

 

About the Team

We are responsible for the generation of P&C Retakaful business across South East Asia & South Asia in collaboration with the cross-functional team. In addition, we support colleagues from other regions in writing Retakaful business in their region.

This is an exciting team for people who enjoy navigating ambiguity to develop new business to address strategic opportunities and challenges. Team members need to be highly motivated to work both autonomously and with diverse partners across the region and globally, including with Senior Manager. Skills Required

  • Around 5-10 years of relevant experience with at least 3 years of solid underwriting skills
  • Sound knowledge of reinsurance/Retakaful products
