About the Role


We are seeking a highly motivated person to join our Casualty Treaty Underwriting team in London.


Our team is mainly responsible for underwriting renewal and new business, predominantly in the UK/Ireland and in the International business segment, with Motor being the principle focus, but Liability and other Casualty lines of business being part of the remit too.


We are looking for someone to support our team with a variety of tasks related to underwriting


  • Supporting the team to create the market view of UK Motor portfolio

  • Assisting the team in the underwriting process of live deals

  • Collaborating with the team to find new ways of analyzing our business and discover interesting insights in our data


We are currently all working from home, but expect that, depending on the situation around Covid 19 and government guidelines, we can return to the office, at least partially, in the near future.".


About the Team


We are a team of 8 Casualty Treaty Underwriters looking after London Market business, which comprises Domestic UK and Ireland and some of International Business written out of London and Bermuda. We consider ourselves a very dynamic team with a lot of energy. While we work closely together with one another and our colleagues from other functions, the team embraces the flexibility that Swiss Re provides when it comes to the way we work.


About You


  • Excellent speaking, presentation skills (incl. PowerPoint) and writing skills, in English.

  • Strong IT skills, experience with Microsoft Office -- PowerPoint, Word and Excel.

  • Excellent organisational, design, teamwork and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to adapt to a new setting quickly, and respond swiftly to instructions

  • Experience in handling, prioritising and time management of multiple tasks.

  • Proactivity and independence to lead your own projects

  • High energy and enthusiasm

  • Qualification or experience relating to actuarial science or data science is an advantage.

  • University degree or equivalent in a technical or mathematical subject preferred.


The position is hired as 10 week summer placements from end of June to August.
