CRO Swiss Re Europe & Head Legal Entity Risk Management EMEA (Hybrid- m/f/x/d - 80-100%)
About the role
We are offering a unique opportunity for you to become the Chief Risk Officer of Swiss Re Europe (SRE), a composite legal entity covering the majority of Swiss Re's European P&C and L&H reinsurance risk, and to lead the dynamic EMEA legal entity risk management team. In this role, you will be part of the Swiss Re Europe Management Committee and represent Risk Management in the Board of Directors' meetings. You will be part of the P&C Risk Management leadership and your team will be the risk partners for the SRE General Manager and EMEA Market Unit heads. As the SRE CRO you will be a "key function holder" under EU Solvency II regulation.

Core responsibilities:

Pro-actively and autonomously leading a team of risk managers to manage SRE and its branches, including SRE UK and Swiss Re Africa Limited (SRAf)

Identifying, assessing, monitoring, mitigating and reporting material risks to the SRE Management team, SRE Branch managers and the Board of Directors

Representing the Risk Management function in interactions with SRE's supervisor, the Commissariat aux Assurances (CAA) and overseeing your team's interactions with UK and South African regulators

Overseeing and maintaining the risk management system and control framework for SRE, SRE UK and SRAf in adherence with regulatory and governance requirements

Reviewing material transactions that are covered by SRE, as well as reviewing and signing-off appropriate group-internal retrocession

Monitoring and maintaining the legal entity capital and liquidity positions to remain within SRE's target capitalisation. Ensure preparedness for changing regulatory environment

Ensuring that SRE's business is in line with the risk strategy of the wider Group as well as the P&C and L&H Reinsurance Business Units. Collaborating closely with the CROs of Swiss Re's other Luxembourg-based legal entities (for Swiss Re's Corporate Solutions and iptiQ business units)

Performing a risk tolerance assessment on SRE's business plan, carrying out the Own Risk and Solvency Assessment (ORSA) and ensuring the ongoing appropriateness of SRE's internal model for calculating Solvency II capital requirements

Risk partnering for the Luxembourg General Manager and Market Unit heads in EMEA and providing active feedback on their risk-taking behaviors

Close collaboration with other P&C risk management teams on insurance risk oversight, and liaising with other key functions across Swiss Re Group such as regulatory affairs, Finance carrier management, Legal & Compliance and Group Sustainability

Experience in managing a composite legal entity covering L&H and P&C risk in Solvency II environment
