About the team:


Our claims team is based in Paris, Milan and Madrid, and comprises 7 claims professionals of different backgrounds, fields and languages, handling losses in the wholesale and retail markets across all the main lines of business.


We believe that the way in which claims are handled, through the delivery of our Corporate Solutions Claims Commitment, can be a key differentiator and enables us to provide an outstanding service to our customers. Put simply: we want outstanding claims' service to be the reason customers buy insurance from us.


The position reports into the Head of Claims for France, Iberia and Italy.

About the role:


You would be responsible for the professional handling of Direct Primary Insurance claims underwritten in both the retail and international wholesale markets. The claims portfolio predominantly consists of General Property and Engineering but also other lines of business including Casualty. 


You will be equally comfortable acting as Lead or as a coinsurer, and capable of technical coverage evaluation and exposure analysis and influencing a market to reach the desired outcome. Our objective is proactive investigation and evaluation, fair resolution, and delivery of exceptional customer service in line with our commitment.

Your key responsibilities:


  • Handle claims of varying severity within defined authority including, coverage review, fact investigation, loss evaluation, and crafting and executing on an appropriate claim resolution strategy. Set and maintain appropriate and timely indemnity and expense reserves in accordance with the guidelines
  • Proactive diary management to drive claims toward a timely resolution
  • Develop and implement appropriate strategy for fair claim resolution, to include settlement negotiation where needed
  • Select, direct and manage external specialists and vendors, including working with them to set appropriate budgets and effectively handle costs
  • Select and lead outside attorneys, where needed, including working with attorneys to set appropriate resolution strategy and budget and proactively managing costs
  • Regularly provide meaningful claims insights and input to internal partners, including underwriters, sales and risk engineering, and studies review and analysis relating to claims, emerging risks, legal, regulatory and societal developments and other industry topics
  • Assist Underwriting and others with contractual wording and risk assessments associated with policies or risks
  • Keep Claim Management and internal partners aware of loss potential and material claim developments, consistent with the guidelines
  • Provide accurate information and data for Claims' reporting. Follow internal governance, legal and regulatory requirements
  • Regular Claims and Insurance Industry training/education. Participate in regional and global projects


About You:


  • Educated to engineering or legal university degree-level or equivalent insurance work experience 
  • Minimum 8 years Claims or Insurance Industry experience in the Spanish market. Background working in the primary insurance market including international programs is preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, proficient in English. 
  • A desire to learn and develop as a person and as an insurance professional
  • Curious, energetic, analytical, confident, collaborative, proactive, problem solver who is prepared to contribute towards all areas of the CorSo business
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong coverage, investigation, loss evaluation and claim valuation skills. Strong negotiation skills with a desire to continue development of such skills
  • Ability to engage and manage external specialists, including proactive cost management
  • Strong litigation and outside attorney management skills. Strong understanding of underwriting and other insurance functions.
  • Good presentation skills
  • Strong digital literacy including proficiency in the use of MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point), MS Outlook
